Stable Base, Weak-Ish Mount

Purchased this on sale with the intent for something portable to do long exposures with. Definitely requires a remote trigger if you're using a bigger body. The base is very stable but the adjustment was shake on my A7 with an 85mm on an adapter.

Solid little stand!

Nice addition to the bag o’ tricks. Holds small objects like phones, mic’s, and small lights very well. The octopad skin at the bottom is as grippy as advertised.

Good n steady but heavy n large. Yes recommended.

I have had the smaller version of this and loved it, mostly used for securing my slippery, rather heavy GPS over car's dashboard that would not stay on window suction cup holder or likewise. This thing is large , heavy and steady. It surely can hold my dslr with a smaller lens. Basically it has numerous applications but not so small. I do recommend it fully, especially at this price rang. Doubt you can find anything better or more functional at this price range.

Yes, recommend as a sandbag style holder

I have only had the opportunity to use it once. It definitely will not slide around(on a dashboard) and is sturdy when holding a dash cam up to a camcorder. I would recommend this for anyone who needs a “sandbag” type holder

Great for getting down low.

Great for getting your camera down low. Just put ball head on it and your ready. I also set up a flash unit on it and now you can put it where you wan it white out a big stand.

The original OctoPad, now BIGGER! The OctoPad XL is a completely new form concept for support equipment. Now capable of safely supporting even larger equipment payloads. The patented, weighted non-slip mat design offers far superior stability to that of existing mini tripods and suction cup supports. It is a universal high stability support base incorporating a male 1/4-20 inch threaded bolt and custom designed, large capacity removable photographic ball head also with an adjustable 1/4-20 inch male threaded bolt connection interface. Compatible with most ball heads and accessories.

The OctoPad XL solves the three major complaints about these tripods and suction cup devices:
