Ok I have this lens and the 300mm f4, 100-300 panny, the 100-400 Olympus, the 100-400 Panasonic with and without converters this is just about as sharp as all those lens. You get with this lens the benefit which even the 300mm f4 can do and that is lens blur and background. yes, check out my video Stafford Fuhs, I have a YouTube channel for photography. I would say that the 150-600 is probably one if not the only lens which gives you 1200mm F6.3 background blur and compression that melts away the background similar to other larger sensor cameras. In fact I compared this against the 200-800 canon and you can see the results on my channel. So yes it is heavy, yes it is big but if you want smaller / mid size animals and a decent background blur this lens helps even with the f6.3. Again I compared it at 1200mm f8 on the 300mm f4 with the 2xtc and the 150-600 still outperforms the lens. Take the good with the bad but if you want the best all around lens I have to say this is it excluding the extra weight.

Chunky lens but hand holdable for short periods. Does not balance at all on Modern bodies. I/S switch is in a bad place that I found would turn itself off hanging from the strap. Goes against what M4/3 is supposed to be. If this is indeed a modified Sigma Sport 150-600mm lens, had the same complaints on full frame DSLR's. Image quality is amazing if you remember to flick back on the I/S. 300mm equiv is really too long on the short end. The 150-400mm T/C is a far better lens and fits better with what an M4/3 system is supposed to be about but this is 1/3 the price. Recommend as long as you understand the limitations and can deal with the weight and balance.

An exceptional tool for wildlife and nature photography, the OM SYSTEM M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS Lens, paired with the ALTA PRO 2+ 264AB 4-Section Aluminum Tripod, offers photographers a powerful combination of reach, stability, and versatility. This lens is engineered with a robust IPX1 splash and dust-proof design, complemented by a fluorine coating, ensuring it withstands the toughest environmental conditions. Its compact and lightweight construction provides photographers with the agility needed to track and capture elusive subjects effortlessly.
The M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm lens covers an impressive focal range of 300mm to 1200mm, which can be extended to a staggering 2400mm when used with the optional M.Zuiko Digital 2x Teleconverter MC-20. This extensive range is ideal for super-telephoto photography, particularly when photographing distant wildlife where proximity is a challenge. The lens's 4x zoom capability allows for flexible composition, delivering sharp, high-resolution images throughout its entire zoom range.
Equipped with advanced image stabilization technology, this lens features an in-lens stabilization mechanism that, when combined with 5-axis sync IS in-body stabilization, offers up to 7 shutter speed steps of stabilization. Independently, it provides up to 6 shutter speed steps, ensuring steady handheld shooting even in low-light conditions, minimizing the need for a tripod. The IPX1-equivalent splash and dust-proof design, along with a fluorine-coated front lens, ensures easy maintenance and reliability in wet or dusty environments.
For enhanced usability, the lens includes customizable zoom ring torque settings, allowing photographers to switch between Smooth (S) and Tight (T) modes using the Zoom Torque/Lock switch. The Lock (L) mode secures the lens at the wide-angle end, preventing accidental extension during transport. Additional features such as the Focus Limiter switch, Focus Mode switch, IS (Image Stabilization) switch, and L-Fn (Lens Function) button provide added convenience for various shooting scenarios.
The lens excels in close-up photography, with a closest focusing distance of 0.56 meters at the wide-angle end and 2.8 meters at the telephoto end. It achieves a maximum image magnification of 0.7x at the wide-angle end and 0.39x at the telephoto end, effectively transforming into a tele macro lens capable of capturing intricate details of small subjects like flowers and insects. When paired with a teleconverter, it rivals the performance of a dedicated macro lens, expanding creative possibilities for outdoor photography.
Additionally, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 150-600mm f/5.0-6.3 IS lens supports Focus Stacking mode, enabling the capture of multiple shots at varying focal positions to create a single image with an extended depth of field. This feature is particularly beneficial for achieving sharp, detailed images in macro and landscape photography. Overall, this lens, combined with the ALTA PRO 2+ 264AB tripod, is an indispensable asset for photographers seeking to push the boundaries of their craft.
