Review Summary

I've been a phone photographer up till now and have been using Printique to create photobooks of our exploits. The books have been great, but I learned that the denser the photo, the nicer book. So, I wanted to get a "real" camera that we could take on trips without exceeding our luggage allowance. I opted to go the Micro 4/3 route as that's what it was designed for - high quality photos without massive weight. We opted for this lens due to its wide focal length and low f stop. I love the results. First time in my life that I can honestly say I've taken a great photo. My partner and I are amazed by the visual wonder of its photos compared to what we could take with the latest and greatest iPhone. Can't wait to go on a trip and create a Printique photobook.

Overcome the limitations of your photography with the high-quality M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens for Micro Four Thirds in black. This advanced, versatile lens is designed to deliver superior image quality across a wide range of conditions. Its compact, lightweight design, weighing only 1.67 lbs, makes it an ideal companion for your photography adventures.
This lens boasts a wide-angle to telephoto zoom range of 40-150mm (80-300mm 35mm equivalent), offering you the flexibility to capture everything from expansive landscapes to detailed portraits. The f/2.8 maximum aperture ensures consistent brightness throughout the zoom range, enabling you to shoot in low light conditions and create images with a beautiful depth of field.
The M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens is the first to feature the world's first Dual VCM (Voice Coil Motor) autofocus mechanism. This innovative technology separates the focusing mechanism into two lens groups, each controlled by an individual linear drive motor. This results in incredibly fast, nearly friction-free, and remarkably quiet autofocus performance.
Constructed with a premium metal body, this lens incorporates 16 elements in 10 groups, including Olympus ZERO-coated HD, ED, EDA, and Super EDA glass. This combination significantly reduces chromatic aberration, ghosting, and flares, ensuring sharp, clear images across the entire zoom range.
Designed for the outdoors, this lens is fully sealed for weather protection, with 11 separate seals to keep out moisture and dust. This makes it a reliable choice for shooting in harsh conditions. Despite its robust construction, the lens maintains a constant 6.2-inch length, thanks to its internal lens movement, ensuring a stable shooting platform when combined with OM-D or PEN camera bodies.
The lens also features a programmable L-Fn function button on the lens barrel for easy access to settings adjustments, and a Manual Focus Clutch mechanism for instant switching between auto and manual focus. The bundled lens hood can collapse back onto the lens for easy storage, and the included lens pouch offers protection against dings and scratches.
For those seeking to extend their shooting range, a 1.4x teleconverter is available that extends the lens's focal length to an impressive 210mm (35mm equivalent of 420mm). Additionally, a ZUIKO protective filter featuring Olympus' renowned ZERO coating technology can be added to further enhance your photography experience.
In summary, the M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm f/2.8 PRO Lens for Micro Four Thirds is a durable, high-performance lens that offers advanced features and superior image quality, making it a versatile addition to any photographer's kit.
