THX Certified Select Reference Sound
THX Integrated System guarantees theater-quality sound in an affordable all-in-one package. Certified systems are ideal for smaller spaces where the screen-to-seat viewing distance is about 6-8 ft. (2-3 m). All components within the system are rigorously tested to meet THX standards, delivering the same distortion-free sound volume you experience in a commercial theater.

Dynamic Audio Amplification
The high-current capability of Dynamic Audio Amplification is proven by an ability to drive four-ohm speaker loads, which severely test the strongest amplifier. Heaps of muscle means superior control, restoring energy to stereo and multichannel sound. In addition, VLSC eliminates pulse-noise for optimal playback of quality stereo sources.

THX Integrated System Certified Speakers
This 2-Way speaker package features solid MDF enclosures and A-OMF woofers (comprising layered polyethylene naphthalate and flexible cotton weave). Included 2-way Surround speakers with 5 1/8" (13 cm) A-OMF drivers assure full-scale surround. Front-firing sub fitted with a 12" (30 cm) cone outputs 125 Watts of chest-rumbling bass. All speakers are certified to meet THX Integrated System standards.

Unleash Dolby Atmos or DTS:X Home Theater
Object-based soundtracks allow independently mixed sound to play through any speaker in your system, moving above and around you with breathtaking realism. The HT-S9800THX reproduces 5.2.2-channel Dolby Atmos or DTS:X formats, with the included wall-mountable Surround speakers convincingly reproducing overhead effects.

Music Made Easy with Chromecast built-in
Stream any music from your smartphone, laptop, or PC to the HT-S9800THX with ease. Control playback with Chromecast enabled apps you know and love from your iPhone, iPad, Android phone or tablet, Mac or Windows laptop, or Chromebook.

Stream Anything with DTS Play-Fi
The DTS Play-Fi app for iPad, iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire, and Windows PC lets you stream from online services, media server, or device library over Wi-Fi to any number of compatible speakers.

DTS Play-Fi connects systems for synchronized music in every room, and can stream different music to different rooms from the same device. Speakers can be used individually with unique devices at the same time, and lossless audio is supported.

Supports HDR10, HLG, Dolby Vision,BT.2020, 4K/60 Hz, and HDCP 2.2
Six rear HDMI inputs and Main Out support pass-through of HDR10 and Dolby Vision; HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma), and BT.2020; 4K/60 Hz video; and HDCP 2.2 for premium video playback. Front HDMI input offers easy connection of a video camera, while Sub Out is ideal for projector connection.

Wi-Fi, AirPlay, Spotify, Bluetooth

Powered Zone 2

Onkyo Controller collects streaming services and local network audio into an intuitive app. Control playback, explore services, and distribute audio all over the home via FlareConnect from one interface.

FlareConnect Wireless Multi-room Audio
FlareConnect mirrors network audio and external analog sources connected to a master component, from streaming services to vinyl records, on FlareConnect-compatible speakers in other rooms. Music selection, speaker grouping, and playback management across the home are built into Onkyo Controller app for iOS and Android.

Note: FlareConnect is enabled with a firmware update. Multi-room audio enabled by this technology requires an optional Onkyo wireless speaker. Onkyo cannot guarantee the compatibility of its A/V receivers with other devices featuring FlareConnect. Sharing audio from external inputs depends on the model and is enabled via firmware update. Sampling rates of 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz are supported.
