Fantasic sound and room correction

Upgraded from a refurb Denon X1700. While the sound of the Denon was fine it was having network issues. I did not expect the difference in sound of this receiver + Dirac. It is a noticeable improvement. Maybe I didn't have something set correctly on my outgoing Denon but I'm blown away by how good this Onkyo with Dirac sounds.

Just what I was looking for!

Continued Excellence

This is my second Onkyo receiver. Ive owned many different receivers over the years and am relieved to return to Onkyo. The bang for the buck can not be beaten. Compared to Sony, Yamaha and Denon, the Onkyo receivers provide me a more satisfying listening experience. With a plethora of features and ample power the TX-NR7100 easily brings our media room to LIFE with crisp, clean, spacious sound. Whether music or movies, it can handle the task regardless of the format and delivery method. This midsize unit fits nicely into smaller spaces and doesn't produce an overly concerning amount of heat. Many may find the configuration of AV receivers daunting, buy Onkyo provides simple initial configuration to get you going. If you want to continue personalizing the sound, the Dirac Live room correction can not be beaten. Overall, I doubt another unit could provide the same level of satisfaction for the price.

Solid receiver - great value for the money

Overall I am very pleased with this receiver. It has Dirac which is greatly needed due to the acoustics and dimensions of my room. The lack of a tangible product manual complicated the setup because I didn't have anything on hand to reference. Other than that, I am happy with the purchase. Initially I didn't realize that the volume was being muted when I would power it on so I thought something wasn't working but now that I know it defaults to a 'muted' setting when powering on, I can attribute that more to user error. There are a lot of (future) upgradable features I haven't delved into yet but knowing that it does have additional capabilities gives me peace of mind that I won't be regretting this purchase due to some new bell or whistle with next year's model.

Good price for a decent AVR

Good sound, although a little anemic on the power output. Subwoofer crossover slope seems little loose (sounds like it's 12db/octave or lower) or my ears are broken. Overall a good value for a lower end Dirac enabled AVR

I couldn't be happier with my purchase. After the hassle of running all my cables and getting it all hooked up, I was up and running in no time. The setup was very easy to follow, and it all sounds amazing. I'm using this for a 7.1.2 setup, and have no complaints. I watched a 4k UHD and the audio was outstanding. I also used this for 4k120 gaming on Xbox with no issues at all.

Best value 9.2 receiver available

Replaced a Onkyo TX-SR805. The Onkyo TX-NR7100 receiver sound upgrade has been fantastic, but .......1) miss not having a physical paper manual to reference from (manual now in digital form online); 2) speaker terminals on back are laid out vertically, makes it hard to make wire connections. Give yourself plenty of room behing reciver for needed dexterity; 3) remote is a step backwards from my old 805 model (smaller - less functional). Sound is very immersive once it's set up - did use Dirac and it does make a positive difference.

Great Amp at a Great Price with few drawbacks

I traditionally prefer Denon for their warmth but I have to say that I'm impressed with the audio on this unit. It sounds much warmer than my old Onkyo NR-801. I also love that I can run this unit at 6 ohms for 220 watts through my Klipsch 5.1 reference series. It has all of the modern bells and whistles, and is not lacking in features. It sounds rich and full, but has a hard time handling the highs that the horn tweeters are capable of at extreme volume. That being said, I don't play my stereo at deafening levels any more, and they do sound incredible with movies. I would have given this amp a 5, but there are a couple of drawbacks. The unit feels a bit cheap with the plastic case and knobs. I worry about how they will hold up over time, but the 2 year warranty does go a long way to piece of mind. The remote is also lacking in a lot of features you expect for an amp with all of these features. All in all it was a good purchase at a great price and I am happy with my new Onkyo NR7100.

No more screen protector

I had a otter box defender for my old iPad and my son dropped it tons of times with no issues as it had a screen protector. First drop on this one and big old crack across the screen. Recommend if you purchase this you understand it has NO screen protection. The curved edges do not protect it enough to justify not having it.

Onkyo?s best receiver in the NR lineup. If you can?t afford the TX-RZ50 then the TX-NR7100 is the receiver to get. It has almost all the same features but at a slight power disadvantage to the RZ.
