Orion Starseek Wi-Fi Telescope Control Module, Serial Port

The small, battery powered Orion Starseek Wi-Fi Telescope Control Module plugs into your telescope's serial port, which will either be on the mount base or on the original hand controller itself and creates a Wi-Fi hot spot for your Apple iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to link to. Using their Starseek App, you'll be able to wirelessly point your telescope to a database of 31,000+ objects.

By creating its own local 802.11 wireless network, the StarSeek Wi-Fi module, when connected to the serial port on your telescope's GoTo mount, converts the Wi-Fi signal from the mobile device into serial commands. This means your device speaks to your mount just as your standard controller would, driving the telescope automatically to any of the objects in the StarSeek database. Polar-alignment and start up is done using your telescope's standard procedures and original controller.

The Starseek is not currently compatible with USB telescope interfaces. The Starseek Module is powered by 4 AA batteries and has an approximate battery life of 8-12 hours of continuous use. You can also power this accessory via DC or AC power cord for longer usage.
