Easy to set up. Sounds great. Our previous receiver was over twenty years old, so we appreciate modern features like Bluetooth and being able to listen to different inputs in different rooms.

I've heard of better recievers, but for a newbie in the home theater game, it has not disappointed me yet. I love it! It's easy to setup. I would recommend purchasing banana plugs for easy installation of your wire. I went with 16 gauge and it works great!

Very nice receiver. Love the ability to use in a second room as well as the blue tooth option. Hope it lasts as well as my old onkyo. It was a 1996 model!! Finally died (actually worked but smelled little like melted rubber when on for a while). Seriously consider this one if you want to upgrade.

This is my 4th Onkyo Receiver. Two died with one replaced under warranty. I bought this because I was already familiar with the setup (which is complex). I was surprised that I was easily able to pull the old unit out, put this one in and set up my 7.1 system without looking at the manual (available on line). Performance of the new receiver was significantly improved over the older version. There is a 7.1 Dolby surround which is awesome and so much better than the all channels sterio music mode. Adorama's price was $50 less than the competition.

Replaced an older Onkyo model with this one which came highly rated by most review sites. I'm very happy with the performance. The quality and depth of sound while watching movies is incredible. Appreciate the Bluetooth connection to my iPhone for streaming and the ability to listen to other streaming services is awesome.

I would give it 4.5 stars. Decent power. good setup. I wish the Intelligent sound adjustment was like the previous model of Onkyo. But that might just be me. I do not do that much with the reciever but watch movies and TV.

Great sound and a really helpful set up wizard that walks you through initial setup. Required an unprompted software update before I could get chromecast to work but, smooth sailing since then.

It's my second Onkyo TX-NR696 7.2-Channel Network A/V Receiver, that should tell you much I think of this receiver. My second unit is being used to drive audio to Phase Tech PC-60 Speakers and to route HD Ultra Blu-Ray, Nividia Shield TV and NAS Video to an Epson Laser projector. The routing through the TX-NR696 works well and is controlled by the units remote control, the Onkyo Apps on smartphone and networked PCs which control this unit or another TX-NR696 in another part of the house. Sound is great and other than audio from video sources, I appreciate the ability to listen to TuneIn radio and FLAC files from my music server. Great value for the money.

We are still finishing our home theater so I haven’t even had a chance to take it out the box yet. I researched receivers for a very long time before deciding on this one, though. Adorama’s price and shipping was great (arrived in only a couple of days). Cant wait until I have it all setup. Based on the reviews I’ve read it’s top notch!

Replaced an older Onkyo 7.1 AVR that didn't have HDMI inputs. Allowed me to eliminate a HDMI switching device and optical audio cables to the AVR, simplifying use. Added an Amazon firestick as an input and my old HD plasma TV is young again! Haven't explored added functionality of a network connection beyond checking for updates. I do wish it had a spare AC outlet on the back like my old AVR, but overall very happy. Found best price on Adorama.

I ordered this AV receiver as I had bought an Onkyo AV receiver 12 years ago that i was happy with. This current Onkyo is a decided update in terms of features. I still have the old one in another setting. When I set up this one and played music it was decidedly better. The setup was very easy and the operation is smooth as well. It did take a little time to familiarize myself with the new method of operation. I would recommend this product. It was highly rated on several best of websites.
