This has been an incredible light! The battery lasts all day on a single shoot. The color is good. The refresh times are quick enough. Fan cooled. The magnetic gels and diffuser are great! Now it?s the Westcott FJ400 at $200 more than Orlit was. Jenbei sold out to the highest bidder is my guess.

I like the 400 a lot. It's more compact than its brother, the 610 and offers a lot of value and functions for the price. Speedlights are far more practical because of their smaller size and ability to be hand held, but at times you just need more light without breaking the bank.

Powerful, works good at times. But my biggest beef is the ittl is inconsistent at times. Got the ORLIT TR-612N TTL 2.4Ghz Transceiver for ORLIT RoveLight RT 610 for nikon. It is no longer being sold so I guess I know why now. It is a junk trigger. Even in manual mode the strobe didn't seem to adjust right. I was able to trade it off to a friend. Will pass on this product even if it is cheaper. A tad shorter then the godox ad400. The basic case came with good lighting color modifier. Fits my bowen mount dish fine and out of the box.

I have been using the Rovelight RT400 for studio and real estate photography over the last six months, and I'm quite happy with the design and features of the strobe. However, I recently purchased the TR-Q7 wireless trigger which is designed to work with the RT400, and after upgrading the firmware on the RT400 (as recommended. I am finding that the high-speed sync (HSS) feature of the strobe does not work properly. The rear-curtain masks out part of the image, indicating that the flash isn't firing in HSS mode through the duration of the exposure, causing a dark band near the top of the frame where the rear curtain is obscuring the sensor. You can see a video demonstrating the issue via the YouTube link below.

I am very impressed with the quality of build. Everything that I reviewed on Reviews and YouTube videos came to live. I already have several new shoots scheduled both indoors and outdoors. As I have AC/DC strobes these are great, not even a cable for battery power pack. A big difference when on the road. As soon as possible I will be posting pics.

it has connectivity problems, it takes a few minutes before it connects and sometimes you have to turn it on and off to make it re-connect. I thought it would be more similar to the bigger monolight, the 600. Instead the design is not round, less captivating, looks older in style and it is also way heavier than expected. Being smaller i was hoping it would be easier to carry around instead there is not much difference with the bigger 600..But the quality is great and the light output is great. Easy to operate and once it gets working it doesn't loose a click.

I have bought into the ORLIT system. My first purchase was the ORLIT RoveLight RT 610 HSS TTL. Since then I have included 4 ORLIT RT-600C TTL RT Speedlites and recently added RoveLight RT 400 HSS TTL light. All of these lights are controlled by the TR-Q6. While I rarely use all the lights at the same time, it is nice to have all this controlled with one transmitter. The RT 400 is a great companion to all the other lights. It is great for portraits in the field. It is very portable and has excellent battery life. I would highly recommend this for a standalone light air an addition to your current system. It works well with my Canon setup. The battery life on this flash and it’s big brother are excellent. They far outlast the AA’s that power my speedlights. On occasion I will have to reset the TR-Q6 and the lights. I have not figured out what but sometimes they do loose connection and need to be power cycled to re-sync.

TTL does not work on Canon 6D MK II and that was the whole reason I bought it. Past the return period now and not happy.

Pros: + Lightweight monolight (in comparison to FlashPoint)+ Small Reflector with included Magnetic GelsCons:- Arrived Used.- TTL only fires full power shots when controlled with ST-E3-RT / Canon 600 EX RT / Canon 600 EX RT II.- Often, Canon RT System cannot find the ORLIT, and will not fire. This involves turning off the ORLIT over and over (as well as the ST-E3-RT) until they finally recognize each other.- For some reason, the ORLIT has way more trouble with Radio Frequency interference on channels than the Canon 600 EX RT / Canon 600 EX RT II's. I usually can shoot with my 600's anywhere without fail. ORLIT is another story - it frequently fails when the 600's still fire, and involves scanning the channels to find the best option in hopes that it won't fail (it still will). I had over 30 misfires in a single shoot - unacceptable.- No replacement bulbs available; this baffles me. I didn't break a bulb, but if I did I would have to buy an entirely new ORLIT unit.

My Orlit rt 400 is totally unusable. It hangs everytime I use it with Jinber tr-q6 (Sony) trigger or even just as an optical slave. On the other hand, this same flash trigger works perfectly fine with my other two orlit studio flash (450ws & 250 ws). It has firmware version 1.1. When the flash hangs, all the buttons including the power button become unresponsive. Will need to take the battery out to restart the flash again. Hope customer service can help on this issue.

Everything about the light unit itself is nice except for the fact that I can get the HSS function to work with my Nikon D750. I've sent in two emails to Adorama tech support but have not received any reply back. It's been about 5 business days since the first email. I may have to return it if I don't hear from them soon.

Great addition to my wedding lighting kit. I use four Canon RT600 flashes mainly. Now and again I need extra power for sunsets and mid day sun. This was great at my first wedding with it. It saved me changing triggers etc and I could just throw it on a light stand with a soft-box and keep my Canon flash on my camera and control this. Will be using it as my main light for dark church formals I am sure.

I was in the market for a battery-powered monolight to use on photoshoots. I was especially interested in the high-speed sync feature that I'd be using with my Nikon D7500. The results are everything I could ask for! The battery life has been solid for each of the shoots I've used it in over the last month or so. I love the freedom of not having to worry about cables and the Bowens Mount system that is very accessory-friendly. I have no real complaints about this light. Be sure to purchase the compatible remote for your camera model. It's super compact and feels very well-designed. I absolutely recommend this light.

First Orlit light. Im very impressed with my initial use. Sturdy build. As advertised and have had no problem using with my modifiers and other canon flashes. TTL gets close but does not nail it.

I use a different bulkier light by fault. I have to use them and hook them to to a outside batter which doesnt hold a very long lasting charge at ! I saw these Orlit lights and was not sure but I ordered 2. THESE LIGHTS ARE AMAZING! I didnt test them out, I went straight out and used on 2 big jobs. The 1st was a senior session. The light was dead on and never gave me a false ratio. Most consistent light I have seen! The next job was an 9 hour league and not only consistent but the battery had only gone down by half! Very nice light and built very durable as well. Many different options you can use with it as well as outside triggers plus TTL. You cannot go wrong with this light! I will be buying more and changing out my bulkier lights!!

Had to return it. ORLIT customer service tried out their own Sony cameras and confirmed that they don't work with the system in HSS mode. Other than that, the lights themselves and trigger were built well and I wish I could of kept it all.

It works well only reason i did not give 5 stars is because the first battery sent to me did not work.

So far, I have used this light with 7 sessions & I haven't had to charge the battery yet. I am very impressed. The flash dials right down so I can shoot with a shallow aperture. I like having the option of TTL but I haven't tried it out yet. I will today & will update the review if I have any trouble. I haven't gotten HSS to work yet. It might be because I am using the trigger system I already have & not the one specifically for this light. Nice, clear display & the functions are simple to operate.

Love this new light, I currently have 610’s that I used often but this light is much lighter and compact. The included gels is a bonus. Well worth to add this to your kit

I love this thing. I added it to my collection of five other Orlit 601units that I have been using for the last year or so. I love the smaller size of these! The recycle time is excellent and it works great in HSS (and in TTL which I never use). I really like how the same remote will run all the Orlit stuff. I will likely begin always taking this unit on assignments with one other RT601 and only bring the rest on big lighting jobs. There are two things I HATE abut these Orlit units… 1. They put a tungsten modeling light which is a bummer. It’s not 1970 anymore!!! 2. the RT601’s have issues with the battery latch and this new 400 w/s unit has a much better battery attachment setup. Thanks for changing this!!!

I recently purchased two of these strobes while it was on sale and boy am I happy I did. It’s worth the regular price so I’m super impressed with it. It’s got plenty of power and features. I use them with my other two rt-610s and my orlit trigger. It works flawlessly. I really like the color gels and the carrying bag. So much in the package. Thank you Adorama. I really hope they eventually make an AC adapter to run it without the battery like the RT-610 does but I’ve managed to to still do long studio shoots with out it.

This is the 4th orlit I bought. Adorama has offered such a great range of lights at different wattage I just can not say how great this is for versatility. The price is phenomenal! It comes with some colored gels and a magnetic fitting dish. The battery life seems great and am looking forward to draining it on a nice shoot soon. Model light is bright. Build quality feels good as well. Price is amazing, did I mention that?

Great Little Light!

TTL Flash Extraordinaire.
The Orlit Rovelight RT610 has a little brother. That is going to start a sibling rivalry. Big Brother will think twice before acting flashy.
The new kid on the block, the ORLIT ROVELIGHT RT 400 TTL WIRELESS MONOLIGHT. It's faster. It's sleeker. It's solid. And it's brash.
The first Canon RT and Nikon, Sony, and Fujifilm radio compatible 400ws TTL Monolight with one second recycle.
Boasting an outstanding Guide Number of 216 (ft at ISO 100), with manual levels from full, 9.0 to 1.0 (1/256) power with fine 0.1 orfull stop graduations. The flash is ready for action in less than a second, responding to the camera TTL commands as fast as you cantrigger them. Throw the Rovelight RT400 into high gear stop action 'Freeze Mode' down to 1/19000th of a second and color stable HSS built to conquer even the most difficult challenges. 10 Groups are addressable with independent settings through the TR-Q6 Studio Remote with the Orlit Smartphone App for total domination of lighting situations. And with 16 Channels, nothing can interfere with your wireless link. But, it doesn't stop there. Enter Flash Master Mode. Sometimes you want just the radio link without automation and remote settings. You want the simplicity of slaved units to fire as they were set, without intervention or surprises.
Don't be afraid of the light. The Orlit Rovelight RT400 user interface design features a large clear full color LCD display, simplified menu system, and generous power and function control dial, graced by soft menu touch control buttons for all options. Future technologies and camera sync are firmware updated through the USB port. The radio modes are 6: C-Canon, N-Nikon, S-Sony, F-Fujifilm, CH/GR for other Orlit radio only links), and CH-HSS function for Nikon, Canon, Sony or Fujifilm.
The 16.8v 4400mAh Lithium-ion interchangeable battery packs up to 400 full power pops to give you 400ws freedom, anywhere, with a built in power level display. The sleek body design, direct and responsive controls are all integral elements of this battery operated portable monolight. The advantage of Canon RT wireless remote makes the new Orlit Rovelight a 'no-brainer' to turn your RT Speedlite into a real system flash.
HSS Mode allows shutter speeds to 1/8000 through pulsing its light between the quickest focal plane shutter-gate. The monolight can regulate flash duration (t0.5), by means of the manual output, from a rich 1/800s to an action arresting 1/8000s. To really capture the split second event, the Freeze Mode achieves an additional reach to just 1/19000s while still at a color balanced 5500 degrees Kelvin.
The ORLIT ROVELIGHT RT400 boasts a bright 15 watt LED modeling lamp, equivalent to an 80 watt halogen bulb, with a tungsten 3200K color temperature and independent or proportional dimming to help match the model of AC studio strobes for accurate lighting ratios.
The innovation in these extraordinary compact and lightweight units make the RT System and Orlit TR series transmitters for remote power control, the first choice of Canon RT professional photographers. The Orlit Rovelight RT 400 TTL is the next grade level of the RT class - with a focus on super portable and dependable lighting. The ORLIT RT compatible collection liberates to free your shooting style to go out and... ROVE.
Make an Orlit RT turn. This compact monolight joins the answer for all those loyal Canon RT TTL owners longing to have a more extensive and powerful lighting solution, without losing the wireless control in which they have already invested. Plus, using the new Orlit RT-600C Canon TTL Speedlights, extends the remote monolight's possibilities even further, just like a Canon flash, with 5 Groups in 16 Channels, and a special GR Mode where each member of the group can be independently set to mix of Manual or TTL automation. At the same time, this powerful package is the perfect companion for Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm users with the ORLIT TR-Q6Series TTL TRANSCEIVER atop their DSLR's and adds 980ft/300m remote freedom without a speedlight to provide full TTL / Remote Manual/ HSS, in 3 individual groups, with backward compatibility to legacy Flashpoint Rovelight and the HSS link to Canon, Nikon, Sony and Fujifilm cameras.
The TTL Flash Extraordinaire extends into the future. Orlit Smartphone APP seamlessly integrates the latest in wireless command intoyour studio life. A rich array of screens give touch control to the myriad of Orlit features without going near your set, right fromyour favorite Smartphone. And the optional accessory TR-Q6 wireless remote blends the harmony of beauty and innovative function intoa device that seems to anticipate the needs of photo connoisseurs. Your studio - at your fingertips!
Your hot shoe mounted Canon 600EX-RT has become a remote commander to the most amazing 'Extraordinaire' Orlit RT400, the 400ws wireless RT TTL monolight!
Yes, the Big Brother Orlit RT-610 has a lot to be proud of in his sibling 400ws little flasher. They might even work together!
