Mercedes S : Is this light bright enough to illuminate me if I step 8' away from where it's mounted?TROY G : No. For ANY light you are dealing with the inverse square law....look it up - but at 2m distance you are already getting 1/4 the light as you would at 1m of distance. Additionally, this light is best used as a "fill" light to eliminate shadows of the subject. One point to consider. If the subject is wearing glasses this is not an optimal light. The reflection is too great and creates distracting image on the video or webcam. Inverse square law can be found 3w petapixel dot c0m /2016/06/02/primer-inverse-square-law-light/ there is a really good graphic and illustration of the falloff rate.John B : No you need to be much closer in order for this light to be effective. You may get lucky if you are able to also reflect enough light to augment what is being produced but you will need to experiment.STEVEN M : No, 8 feet is too far even at the highest, brightest setting. It works best within a 4 foot range. To effectively illuminate a person at that distance, I would suggest two brighter lights at angles to the side of you. Just a suggestion.

Inexpensive solution to beginning zoom cast.
Works well, but not a robust build. I broke a bracket without much effort. It still works, but I have to jerry rig it.

Cheap
Cheap- Knocked over once on a carpeted floor and it completely broke- flimsy plastic that broke off and the screw broke off. Pay the extra and get something that is solidly made.

Brilliant Design!
Brilliant light effects, easy controls, easy to setup, multiple configuration options and versatile. It works for my needs and significantly improves my videoconference professional profile. I chose Adorama mostly because this ring light uses colored LEDs, not colored plastic overlays. The two stands are magnificent and excellent in quality construction. The remote control to vary the color of the light is easy to use and the varations of brightness allow me to adjust for changing environmental light conditions. I recommend this ring light kit.
