The On-Stage MSA9505 Posi-Lok Telescoping Mini-Boom mounts to the top of a stand with a 5/8"-27 thread. It can extend from 9" to 16" in length. The Posi-Lok system consists of an angle grip design with 52 teeth, ensuring that your mic won't droop. It terminates in a 5/8"-27 thread for attaching mic clips or shockmounts.

This is  a very stable, high quality boom.  It is adjustable to fit most basic needs, although I would prefer to a bit more flexibility for mic placement.  The only major thing I didn't like about this purchase is that it didn't include a better base mount.  This is attatched to your desk via 3 screws; I would prefer a mount that I could clamp to my desk.  They do offer that but it is a separate purchase.

Acceptable, very stable basic mic boom

This is the best way to convert a straight stand in to a boom without the bulky annoying long legs. Try it out you won't be disappointed.

Amazing solution.

Works great. Nice to not have a boom hanging off the back of your mic stand. Less chance to get smacked in the face by a jubilant fan.
