If you've never used the Otis system before, there is a very small learning curve with how to properly utilize these patches. Once you have it down however, these are super easy and convenient. I love that I can perform a quick clean of my CCW firearm right at the bench before leaving the range with just one or two patches, and the entire cleaning kit takes up very little space in my range bag.

The biggest advantage of the pull-through system is the ability to get a tight patch for good scrubbing. But you have to be careful with small calibers such as .22 and .223/5,56NATO. If you tie a patch so that it is too big for the bore, it can get stuck. For an AR, you can usually pull a too-tight patch back to the chamber with a set of slender needle-nose pliers, so long as the patch hasn't been pulled to far down. There are instructions on how to get a stuck patch out, but in a nutshell, a little bit of oil down the muzzle will lubricate the bore so that the patch will have less friction against the bore's walls. I have heard objections to the Otis system based on the mistaken belief that the coated cable will rub against the crown and damage it. NONESENSE! When pulling on the cable, it is taut and perfectly straight. For small caliber bores, I use my thumb to act as a muzzle guard. With .30 cal and above, it is pretty easy to keep the cable centered by eye, but you can still use a finger to keep it from rubbing against the muzzle.

Revived the full Otis kit for Christmas over 10 years ago and have never been disappointed. Have cleaned just about everything from 30-06, 270, 243, 556/223, 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 45 cap, 40s&w, 357, 38, 9 mm, 380, 22, to.17 air rifles. The Otis system has been easy to use and highly effective. Won't use any thing else to clean my weapons inclining the b.o.n.e tool!

Good quality cleaning patches. I don't mind paying a little more for these pre-punched patches. With little to no trace of lint left behind I'm a satisfied customer.

So,shooting more small bore now than ever,I was getting a little tired of cutting down the 3 inch for .22 cleaning!! Cost and availability has driver me away from centerfire to rimfire for play and competition!! Old farts need all of the help and breaks one can get and your product is the best by far and I am very appreciative of your generous discount to Veterans!! Botton line,my grandad had me cleaning breech to muzzle at a young age and your system just makes it so much easier,just wouldn't work well on a 5in.54 cal!!ha. Thanks for a great product!!

excellent, i’ve a tactical unit. it covers so many common calibers. Otis will not sell you something you don’t need.The cleaning system is awesome.I’ve cleaned .22 to 12 ga. and everything in between. Clean your gun the Otis way.

I tend to use many more of these than the larger "all caliber" size. I have found these very good for up to and including 5.56mm. Better price with the holiday discount than I could find in traditional retail locations.

I have many different firearms, both pistol and long guns. I have cleaning supplies set up to just grab the calibre brush I need and clean away. It isn't so easy with a 17HMR due to it's size. Otis makes this an easy task with the compact kit that can be used in the field or at home. Patches can be turned so you can use them more than once which is a nice feature.
