Q&A

Questions & Answers

Phil A : I'm looking for a strap to help carry my canon 7d and 100-400 mm lens. Is this strap strong enough to handle that weight?EDVARD H : The strap is well made with good material. I have used it with Nikon D7100, with 18-200mm lens. I would not trust the snap connectors after many years of use with a heavier combination.JEFFREY C : I have several of these that I use for my 7D and 50D; I also have a 100-400mm lens. This strap does a good job of cushioning the bounce and reduces the neck strain. After a couple of hours I do find that it begins to pull on the neck; however it is unusual for me carry that lens for that length of time. With my other lenses, this strap does a wonderful job and I have recommended them to a bunch of people. I actually think I have 4 of them, 2 black for when I am not wanting to stick out during an event and two with color so I can quickly tell the cameras apart. For long days of shooting, I use a harness that distributes the weight a little more evenly. I have had mine 4+ years and they have traveled extensively. Don't think you can go wrong. Happy shooting.STEWART R : I have one attached to my camera bag and another attached to my camera. They easily handle the weight and you never feel the strap. Excellent choiceBOYD C : I would think so. I briefly used the strap on my D7000 with a 400mm Sigma with no issue, but mostly just with the 70-300mm. I certainly suggest adding the little velcro safety straps. They backup the plastic prongs on the clip(s). I can't say I ever needed them and I frequently dispense with them as I detach and reattach from the strap often. I haven't used the strap directly on a lens which might be appropriate for the 100mm - 400mm. I would worry more about your camera mount failing from unintended impact than this strap.Lee G : Yup.WAYNE G : I am quite sure this strap is strong enough. I use it with my Canon 7D and my Canon 70-200 mm lens without any problem. I doubt the 100-400 is any heavier and if so, probably not by muchDAVID T : It is. I've used the pro loop attachments with various op tech straps with bodies with grips and a 1DIII with 70-200 f/2.8, 300 f/4 and 400 f/5.6 lenses with extenders with no problems
sheryl H : I have a Lumix DMC-FZ20 camera. I need a strap, but they are all to wide to go through the tiny metal clips on the side of this camera. Can you help me find one?DAVID W : I don't know if this will fit the Lumix DMC-F220 or not. My Nikon D800 strap is about 12mm wide and this Op/Tech Strap is 10mm (or 3/8") like the title says.Enrico A : Optech carries different models the fits your camera such as "string type" that hook on the metal side part of the camera frame, the strap you where looking at might be too big or overkill for your camerA. Some models for camera/binoculars will suffice.CHERYL S : I love this strap! It is only 3/8" wide where it attachs to the camera. Very strong and comfortable on the shoulder.ROBERT M : The Op/Tech strap that I purchased in 2011 has a connecting width of 3/8", and is about 1/16" thick. You might try cutting a strip of paper to that size to see if it will fit our Lumix.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?JOHN M : Good valueBRIAN A : Good price and reasonable shipping costMARTIN M : A very strong and comfortable strap even when used to carry large Pro Bodies like the Nikon D5 with large Fast Lenses like the 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED AF-S VR.DAVID S : I have two of these already on other cameras. I love these straps. They are the most comfortable I have ever used. Also, as I'm not getting paid by Nikon or Canon to advertise, I prefer not to risk my neck by broadcasting that I'm wearing an expensive camera (i.e. by using the camera straps that come with the cameras. I also put gaffer's tape over all the logos on my cameras).Ronald J : Modified it to use with the Nikon Vestrap. Changed buckles and it works great.DARIN M : Op/Tech Pro strap is more comfortable than original 7D Canon neck strap.

I have always loved the Op-Tech straps! I appreciate the ability to make the strap short for hand holding, especially !

Soft strap

I don't use a neck strap often but when I do I sure as heck don't want some nylon strap tearing into my neck. This is my second one. My first was for my 70D and now this one for my 5DMIV.

It does just what it's supposed to do

It's more comfortable than the Nikon strap and the camera doesn't slide off my shoulder.

Comfy , tough and reliable system

These straps for DSLR or large Mirrorless are about the best you can get (see title). They distribute weight very well, are slightly stretchy but not too much, and very tough. I've used them in the U.S. and also in hot places in Asia. Usually it's attached to a Full-Frame with 24-105mm or 100mm; or APS-C with 17-70mm, 18-135mm or 90mm. You can buy the double-harness for two heavy cameras, or the tandem strap for one heavy, one light camera. It's a system, so even if you want it as side-sling, it'll work with strap extenders. I also own the various hand-straps, so that I can attach a compact to my DSLR harness, as backup. So far I own three black, three green and five grey ones for my 11 interchangeable lens cameras (six DSLRs and 5 Mirrorless); plus the double strap harness and the tandem straps, plus a dozen or so accessory.compact straps. The bonus--Op/Tech USA is not just a name, they're really Made in USA! My one and only caution--because the strap is neoprene (like in scuba-diving suits), it can get hot around a bare neck in the summer. That's why a couple of my straps are the narrower type for the Mirrorless (they're not as heavy and I tend to use them in travels). This is not a complaint and it's not a quality issue either.

Great product

Bought it for a Sony Alpha 380. Works great, I like that the webbing is really really wide around the back of my neck, it makes the camera fell lighter. It's definitely not cheap, but it's worth the money.

Lives up to it's reputation!

Use it to carry my Nikon DSLR around. The most comfortable strap I have used. Can be used around the neck or on the shoulder. I will always make sure that I have one of these.

Once you had one, you'll never go back

I made this purchase to replace a strap I damaged. I caught the buckle in the car door when closing and it fractured the snap fitting. While I did a field repair, replacement was in order. It's fine, holding my camera securely - I just thought better of letting the expensive Body and lense hang from a compromised fitting. Having said that, These straps are a photographers dream come true. Wide and elastic the neck band has flexibility to conform to your neck/coat collar and the elasticity makes the set up completely comfortable for day long shooting. I carry a Canon body and 70-200mm and another body with a wide angle lenses - all day - and comfortably on this strap. The added option to unclasp either side allows the user to release the camera from one or both sides. This comes in very handy along the way. The only issue this nice comfortable wide band along the center (your neck) is that during warm weather - it's a little warm. Not an issue I am concerned with. My gear and I travel comfortably and safely using these straps, I would recommend them to anyone who carries a camera for any amount of time. I have carried my gear this way for years, Paris, Rainforest in Costa Rica, Shooting off the coast of SFO on the "Saltbreaker" - great gear a must have!

A very good Strap

It is a very secure strap, good quality, strong, and easy to use. Very light for your shoulder or neck, great support for heavy cameras, 100% more comfortable than the regular Straps. I like the anti slip feature, helps to your camera to don't run or move when you walk.

Lightweight Camera strap

This is the third OP/TEC camera strap that I have owned. They are lightweight, easy to install, comfortable and a real joy to use. These straps are 100 percent better than the original camera straps that you get with your new cameras. These straps are flexable and has ribbing so the camera does not slip off your shoulder. The best straps I have ever purchased at a reasonable price.

Very Comfortable

I got this to replace the original strap on my D4 which i found was not good enough for this camera. The Optech is very comfortable, strong and when you put it raround your neck it's as if the camera got lighter. All in all i am very impressed with this strap.

Comfortable strap

I use these on all my dslr since the Nikon strap is very minimal. I often use a auxillary battery pack adding weight along with some heavier lenses. I feel confident the strap is strong enought to handle this load and it distributes weight nicely.

Op/Tech Rules!

This purchase convinced me to convert all my pro Canon 1D-series and 5D with added grip to the Op/Tech. Much more comfortable for event assignments, especially with heavier lenses like 24-70L. Breathes better than factory strap when things get warm.

Super strap

Was looking for a strap that would spread the weight of my camera/lens/battery pack more evenly. I've purchased some op/tech gear in the past and it has always been the highest quality and very reasonably priced. When I came across this strap I knew it would be well made and perform just as I expected. I attended a seminar a few days after I received the strap and had my camera with me for a good 14 hours. It worked great. No neck strain or chaffing.
