Questions & Answers

John R : Hello: I am looking for a replacement strap for my 800mm lens. The question is, will this hold more than 15 lbs in weight?RAY W : John, I don't have any 15lb pieces of equipment. There doesn't seem to be anything about the design that would preclude that much weight, though. The materials and design are similar to what is used for backpacking equipment I use and in that case, the weight is double that. The cushioning on the strap is great, so I think that would be a benefit when you have 15lb hanging on it.JOHN C : Op Tech page indicates that it will hold 15lbs, but they have a disclaimer at the bottom of the page stating that this doesn't mean maximum weightm but what can be carried comfortably with the strap. Based on past experience with straps for other applications, I would think that this strap would safely hold 20-22 lbs, no problem. If your concern is in regards to the strap "quik connects" bearing the weight, Op Tech has little Velcro safety straps to wrap around the connectors to prevent them from accidentally popping open. I just trimmed down a 1/2 incl velcro cable tie that I had on hand and used that. Hope this helps.ALLAN M : I've used the Op/Tech straps with several of my cameras including a fairly heavy 70-200 lens and Canon 50D combination and have found it to be a very good item. The Op/Tech straps have done the job very well for me.RENEE E. M : Hello John, I have had this strap for more then a year, with no problem at all, but the heaviest it carried was only about 5 pounds. The strap is confortable. The only negative point for me is the poor quality of the nylon (or kind of) breaded ends of the strap. Regards, Lionel from FranceWARREN R : John, I'm using my strap to support a Nikon D800 with a 24-240 zoom and battery grip total wt.approx. 5 or6 lbs. I would guess !!! If you contact Op/Tech they will give you the material and connector strength of the strap.DAVID N : I don't know. I like the strap a lot. It's comfortable, lightweight and easy to remove, but my camera and the lens I usually use weigh only about 5 lbs.MIKE P : John I replaced the strap on my Cannon EOS 20D camera and it works fine. When I am going to do a lot of walking I use a OP/Tech Dual Camera strap that I converted to cary one camera on my chest and one lens case. this setup distributes the weight better for long carry sessions hope tis helpsMIKE P : John I use mine on a Cannon EOS 20D with up to a 70 X 300 lens and it works fine. It is a lot more comfortable than the stock strap. When I have the big lens on and am going to do a lot of walking I use my OP/Tech Dual camera strap that I converted to cary one camera on my chest and to carry a extra lens case. hope this helpsDAVID A : I don't know the specific weight limit however, I had very good experience with the support people at OpTech in answering questioning like this one.RICHARD C : It is a very good strap but it is only rated up to 10 lbsSTERLING S : The Optitech web site lists the Pro Loop strap as being able to hold 15 lbs. Wouldn't want to trust it to hold more and damage your 600mm lens. I use it with a D700 and a 70-200 2.8 which is heavy enough to have over your shoulder for a long period of time. SterlingDAVID S : John - I purchased on Op/Tech strap to replace the strap that came with my Nikon. I've had not concerns in the least when it comes to supporting a D300 with up to a 70-200mm lens. Plus I've found it to be more comfortable and less prone to slip off my shoulder than the strap that came with the camera. You're asking basically how much a given Op/Tech strap will hold. I suggest you contact Customer Service at Op/Tech. I'm sure they have the expertise to give you a direct answer with which you'll be confident.JOE C : The combined weight of my camera and lens is about 3.5 pounds. I thought about trying to hold a 15 pound weight with the strap, but in order to do that I would have to remove the strap from my camera so that I didn't endanger the mounting points on my camera. Since removing the strap is a bit of a pain and being somewhat lazy I didn't do it. However, I did tug on the plastic buckle (admittedly unscientific) and I have little doubt it would support 15 pounds. Why don;t you ask Op/Tech? I'm sure they'd be glad to help or offer an alternative suggestion.ERIC P : Not sure. I only I use it on a 5dII body with small lens. The larger version which has the fabric-reinforced strap (meant for camera bags?) is probably a better bet for such a big lens.

Op/Tech Classic Strap

I am an Amateur photographer and felt the strap that come with my Canon D60 to be uncomfortable to wear over long periods of time. This strap is very comfortable and easy to adjust. I love it.

Too short to be useful

Love Op/Tech products but this one needs a little rethinking. It is way too short for a DSLR camera and I am a small person. Trying to attach the strap to the camera was near impossible. Mute point though as I said way too short.

Great strap

A big improvement over the standard Nikon strap. I was looking for a longer strap and with some padding. Not a Eureka moment in terms of the best strap ever, but for the price it works well with a DSLR.

Simply put this is just a great strap!

I'm a big OpTech fan. This starp has a great feel to it. It really does make the camera/lens combo feel lighter! The connections are secure. I love being able to remove the padded section and turn the remaining sections into a hand strap. Nice product....well done.

Nice strap design!

Great strap for the money. I love that it's part of a system which can have accessories added at any time.

The way I would design a camera strap!

This is the way I would design a strap. The versatility of use is great. I can easily change to a hand strap when necessary. I've added extensions for other applications. With such quality it's hard to beat at any price.

Way worth more than it's Price Tag

I have been using this strap for more than 6 months now. It has never failed me since. The Pro Loop connectors are a bit short though. Other than this, it's way worth its price tag

Great strap

I use this with my Nikon FE. Comfortable, easy to use and good value for money.

For the photographer/birdwatcher carrying a heavy camera or binoculars, the SUPER CLASSIC STRAP is a great option. It has the same tailored design as the popular CLASSIC STRAP; however, it adds the patented internal control-stretch system found in the S.O.S. Strap in addition to Op/Tech's Non Slip Grip. This combination is ideal for the individual wanting a narrower strap design that has the needed strength and comfort features required for handling a heavy load.

The Super Classic Strap is available in four popular connection options:
• Pro Loop: uses Pro Loop connections
• 3/8": uses 3/8" wide webbing
• Bino 3/8": uses 3/8" wide webbing, but does not have Quick Disconnects
• Uni-Loop: uses Uni Loops (included with strap)

This SUPER CLASSIC STRAP has Pro Loop connectors
