Worked great for maybe a year

Unfortunately this projector has a huge flaw with the fan units. My fan apparently locked and if you look it up, there are so many other customers that cite the same issue. Contacted Optoma about a fix and crickets.

Junk

Didn’t even last a year only watching it occasionally. The picture would fade in color after 6 months and now less than a year old it won’t even turn on.

Great Until...

Bought this in March 2018, Have had it for 18 months, and it's been a great projector. But a few weeks ago, a white spot appeared. It has a bad pixel, looks like it's kind of common on Optoma projectors and the DMD is already wearing out. Never had this happen on a projector. Bulbs burn out, but never this. We have about 1,200 hours on the machine.

Disappointed- Lights out!

I bought this in Dec 2018, 8 months ago. I loved the image even though I had a weird black shadowy bother on the edges. I loved it. Then all of a sudden the bulb indicator turns red, the bulb is out. really after 8 months with minimal use... I am returning this. please let me know where to send it for repairs... Disappointed in Charlotte NC.

High pitch noise is unbearable

I purchased this model about 1 week ago and I noticed a high pitch noise so I returned the unit and Costco immediately sent a new one. Just received the new unit and the same high pitch noise is still there. The image quality is excellent but the shrieking noise ruins the experience. You cant really hear it if you turn up the volume really high but watching a movie with quiet scenes makes you realise how annoying that sound it. Will return the second unit and look at another company.

The Noise Is Awful Like A Dog Whistle!

My unit makes a high pitched noise that I can hear but the wife can't. The kids can hear it too. The noise is almost like a dog whistle. I assume it is coming from the fan but it is not a normal noise. It also has a band of light that projects outside the felt frame on my screen, about five inches. I can live with the light but not the noise. The picture quality is excellent unless you use dynamic black and then it has flashes of brightness changes. This is the second Optoma projector I have owned. The first gave me several years of excellent service and is still working well for its new owner. I purchased this unit because I had been so happy with my first unit. I am considering sending it back if I can fix the problem.

Worst thing I've ever bought

I bought this six months ago.I was astonished to find what a poorly constructed, cheap piece of plastic it was. But far worse was that this doesn't work. It takes about 10 minutes for the lamp to turn on each time - seriously! It didn't come with cables to attach to a Mac, and the instructions were awful and incomprehensible, so that I couldn't find out the correct cables I needed to buy. (I took it to electronic stores but nobody could decipher the terrible instructions from Optoma either. Finally after 7 weeks, I found the correct cable. It worked once for all of two minutes. Now it says it cannot find the source. We have tried trouble shooting everything, but Optoma's instructions do not help.

No horizontal adjustment possible

This is a good projector in many ways - double hdmi inputs, speaker, audio out socket, much higher definition than the Epson EBSO3 it replaced. But we project from a cabinet which is not centred on the screen. The Epson had a simple manual adjustment to swing the projection image to adjust for this (ie horizontal keystone adjustment. This projector has vertical keystoning but no horizontal. Tedious. So back it has to go.

Very nice, sharp, crisp images.

Very nice, sharp, crisp images. Lot of bang for the buck. Wish it had some Wi-Fi capabilities.

Good Product

Works nicely, only complaint is most generic ceiling mounts do not attach to this projector without some modifications. Otherwise would give 5 stars.

Good Projector

I bough this projector for home cinema. This has very good sharp images. Brightness is good for ambient light but not for daylight. The menu time-out is too short and keep getting away.

Broken Audio

Picture is amazing, however the audio is only a loud screeching regardless of input port. Audio out port is also only loud screeching.

Very nice projector

I bought this projector after finding it on a list of the best 8 projectors of 2018. The list listed that it didn't have the best sound, I plan on running it with a separate surround sound system so I wasn't concerned. The others must be amazing because it sounds great to me, better than others projectors I've heard. It has 3 mounting holes on the bottom, the adjustable mounting bracket I bought can handle 3 or 4 holes, but some are 4-hole only so plan accordingly. I was leery about getting DLP as my eyes pick up the rainbow blur from the image, but I was pleasantly surprised that there was almost none, these new DLP systems have really found a way to get rid of the rainbow, bravo! I haven't used the 3D feature yet, it doesn't com with glasses (none of the 3D devices I've bough have, that seems to be just how the industry rolls) again plan accordingly. The image is beautiful, the USB port on it to power a Chromecast or other stick-device works is a very nice feature. If I had the purchase to do over again I'd still pick up this model, it's very nice.
