Swapped this in as a replacement for an Epson 5030UB. Good: 1 Picture looks great. 2) Clear and full of color. 3) Nice and bright. 4) Fans are quiet that I don't ever notice them while watching TV/movies even in quiet scenes. 5) Lightweight. Bad: 1) Digital Zoom option does not persist across power cycles. This is super annoying given my existing ceiling mount position is not 'ideal' for this projector. Have to manually set Digital Zoom each time. Suggestions from Optoma customer support (basically were along the lines of "don't power it off then...") to resolve did not work. Needs a firmware update in my opinion to fix it properly. Every other setting is persisted, why not this one? 2) The manual physical zoom doesn't have enough range. Epson 5030UB mounted in same spot for 88" screen, and had plenty of manual zoom range (I was set at 50% physical zoom lever for Epson). I have the Optoma's manual zoom moved to smallest image, and still have to apply Digital Zoom in the projector Menu. 3) When you do apply Digital Zoom, the projector Menu doesn't shrink with the TV image. Its still full screen and off my physical screen even though TV image shrank to fit my screen. Again, a firmware update could address this. 4) Doesn't seem to have an easy way to update the firmware. There's some WiFi dongle they supply, but seems to only be for Alexa control (which doesn't really work in a real-world Harmony + Denon Rcvr setup). The firmware update option is still greyed-out. Seems like you need to run an Ethernet cable to it, or plug in a second WiFi dongle into one of it's USB ports. I could be wrong on that, but it's my initial estimate.

DLP Technology
DLP (Digital Light Processing) is a proprietary technology from Texas Instruments that offers digital projection with higher contrast, faster response time, good pixel structure and virtually no color degradation.
Full 3D
Display true 3D content from almost any 3D source, including 3D Blu-ray Disc players, 3D broadcasting and the latest-generation game consoles. Support for 144Hz rapid-refresh rate provides ultra-smooth flicker-free images. DLP Link 3D glasses required.
Dynamic Black Technology
This feature gives more depth to your image by smoothly adjusting the lamp output to create a stunning high contrast ratio. Bright scenes appear crisp and clear, while dark scenes remain detailed with deep blacks and exceptional light and shade detail.
PureMotion
Using sophisticated frame-interpolation technology, advanced motion control processing eliminates motion blurring or image judder, even in high-speed action sequences. PureMotion works in 2D and is optimized for 1080p24.
UltraDetail
This technology ensures all the information contained in an image is accurately reproduced on the screen to give a stunning crystal clear, pin-sharp picture. Complex algorithms detect each frame and improve image sharpness before the frame is projected.
PureColor
This mode allows the projector to reproduce more detailed shades of color for vibrant, natural-looking images. Colors are more saturated and more accurate.
Vertical Lens Shift
Vertical lens shift simplifies installations by shifting the image up and down without image distortion to provide a wider range of projector placement possibilities, making it easier to position the projector in a room.
HDR
High dynamic range (HDR) technology delivers brighter whites and deeper black levels. Optoma HDR accepts HDR10 signals with four selectable picture modes: Normal, Bright, Detail and Film.
DCI-P3
Color the way it is meant to be seen - rich, colorful and cinematic pictures and games via DCI-P3 wide color gamut coverage.
BT.2020
HDR signals are mapped using REC.2020 tone mapping and provides coverage for REC.709, DCI-P3 and a wide coverage color gamut.
