The audio jack is too noisy to be usable. I can't get working video from the mini-displayport output (via two different mini-dp to hdmi adapters that have worked fine in the past).

I read several negative reviews on this hub most IMO are related to using improper cables. This hub is a must with new MacBook Pro 16. If you have a mix of old and new technology this enables communication. I got this unit a couple of weeks ago and it worked flawlessly out of the box.

It's not clear to me why most all the reviews here are 5 star - the main reason I bought this to replace my OWC thunderbolt 2 dock was for the mini display port - save your money - to confirm bunches of reviews at other sites, the mini display port doesn't work properly - apparently even for 5K displays, letalone my old Apple Cinema Display. I'll keep the device because I can't be bothered to package/return but suggest looking elsewhere. NOTE TO REVIEWER: if this review doesn't get posted I will make it clear at other websites that Adorama does not post negative reviews. If I had seen the other reviews, I would not have purchased.

Really need the extension for the thunderbolt 3 to connect with external hardware, speakers, secondary display printer and scanner. It dose all the jobs that I need.

I have found the Dock to be useful for many ports of entry for devices, especially because it is the only Dock on the market with a Firewire port. However, there are times when the computer iMac pro with High Sierra) and Thunderbolt 3 Dock do not speak to each other completely. This requires some technical adjustments and restarting. This slight instability is unfortunate and causes me to withhold some stars in their rating.

Having the extra ports accessible, yet also unobtrusive, is a welcome addition to my work area. I'm happy with dock and its performance.

I just got a new 2017 Macbook Pro and bought this to hook up my peripherals including 2 external monitors. One hooked up via displayport and the other via thunderbolt 3. The one via displayport does not give full resolution. Otherwise, I have no complaints.

Good: 1. Helpful in my case to have an old Firewire 800, for importing Digital Video, even through outdated, and also 2. The SD card slot, for downloading photos, I really needed 3. I look forward to rigging up the Digital audio port to my receiver at some point and or ethernet port at some point. 4. Just lots of options, and I like the form factor and the general arrangement of ports. Bad: 5. The only other thing would be to have a third Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) port, just for long power cord on the front panel. 6. I haven't got to downloading drivers, though apparently it needs a few, which is not good hardware design, in my opinion. Everything should work without separate drivers. 7. And I think it is really quite a bit too much money for this little box, but it had what I needed and not too much extra. In a year, I'm sure it will be available for $, which is as much as it should cost.

it's a great units...the only downside is that it does not have enought usb c port for the price....I wish it would have at least 4 or 6 port... the pirce is a bit to high too..

The only complaint I have about this device is if you have a MacBook Pro that has Windows 10 and OSX on it, you have to restart the MacBook Pro after each disconnect from the OWC Dock in order to get the mouse to work in Windows again. Not a huge issue but definitely an annoyance. Outside of that it's a great product.

I like the fit and finish of this dock. The SD card slot and USB port on the front work well for my setup. Everything else is plugged into the back, keeping all of the cord clutter out of the way. Overall, it works very well to add a bunch of peripherals to a MacBook Pro 13". It has a wide variety of ports. I have no need for the Firewire, ethernet and optical audio ports, so those end up being wasted opportunities for my setup (but I know they are helpful for other users). I would have preferred another USB port instead of some of these three. I would have liked a USB-C port (or another Thunderbolt 3 port) in place of these ports as well. There's 2 thunderbolt 3 ports, but one of them is used to connect the dock to the computer. I'm using the other one to connect a monitor using a DisplayPort to USB-C cable. I wish the miniDisplayPort was a Thunderbolt 2 port. It works well for running a monitor, but doesn't work with an external storage device that uses Thunderbolt 2 (same shape plug, but not the same interface). If it was a Thunderbolt 2 port, I think I would have been able to plug the monitor into the extra port on the storage device and then plug the storage device into this dock. Bottom line, it works very well and looks great with my setup. I just wish the port configuration was a little different … but they'll never please everybody in terms of this.

I recently had my old mac pro 2009 crash out on me, and replaced it with a 2017 macbook pro. Needed a solution to connect my monitors and such, and this is it! Hooked up to a 4k monitor and 1080p second screen with no issues. Plug one usb c and your good to go!

Excellent product with my new MacBook Pro 15" with touch bar. I have my cat5 cable plugged in from my att router and still get 865 mbps of download speeds and 789 Mbps of upload speeds without any drops of quality issues with 4K videos and games. This is the best hub I have purchased so far.

This was a disappointment after all the wait for it to finally be released. I don't know if the lower charge wattage caused my issue or what, but I was not able to get usb ports and audio port to work without a lot of troubleshooting and a reboot. I'm using a 2016 15" MBP and was looking for a single cable look for the desk and I just couldn't get this to work. I worked with OWC to try and figure it out as well and their solution was to plug in the manufactures power adapter and just use the TB3 cable for data and not power as well. I didn't want to mess with reboots and drivers (which I did install) and to have the ports disappear after sleeping or unplugging for a bit so I returned this unit.

Very convenient! Sit my macbook down and 1 USB-C cable to plug in and I'm in desktop mode. Makes for a very clean setup. Took 1 star away just because I feel that it's overpriced :-/

It took forever to ship, but the product was worth the wait. I went from hooking up a USB hub (with adapter), thunderbolt 2 display (with adapter) and power cable every morning to a single thunderbolt 3 cable. Haven't experience a single dropped connection, which is an improvement from my prior workflow when USB devices would suddenly become unresponsive.

4K Dell monitor will only work @60Hz refresh rate when connected to the OWC Thunderbolt 3 dock via DP monitor port to USBC cable connected to Thunderbolt 3 port on the dock. I was able to get the monitor to also work @30Hz refresh rate when connected via HDMI port on monitor to mini DP port on the dock. Great customer service from Adorama.

Really convenient, i have 2 thunderbolt monitors and my headphones plugged into this at my office, i used to have to carry my charger around and plug it in when i get to work, then also plug in the monitors, the charger and my headphones. Now i carry my charger only for use when not at the office, and i have a single thunder bolt cable plugged in that connects everything and charges my laptop. Totally worth it, and worth the wait too
