This is a great starter kit. The only drawback I find is that the refector dishes are a little too pliable, which, if you're not careful, can make it difficult to attach/unattach to the main light.

I started out using these lights about two years ago. Granted they're not up for anything real hardcore but they can hold their own in a small studio. They aren't real good for large groups of people or for larger rooms(except as fills or kickers). I wouldn't recommend using them in any room larger than 12'x16'x10' (unless your walls and ceiling are painted white). Otherwise you'll probably be continuously running them "wide open" and, when looking at your pictures, it will seem like the room just swallowed up the light. 150 w/sec is kinda limiting.

I am very please with the quality of this set. I usually use a different backdrop, but the included one is nice for a change. I am sure this kit will last me a LONG time! Also necessary with the set are a light meter, and a backdrop stand.

I bought this kit a few weeks ago and so far I have been very pleased with the quality of the kit. There isn't much info out there on the web about Interfit EX150 MkII's, so I'll try to elaborate a little on the good/bad of this kit. Heads: Feel sturdy, nice rubberized coating and handle built into the top. Easy push-button controls on the back. Modeling light adjusts proportional to the power level to give you an idea of the exposure. The knobs/brackets are plastic, but they feel sturdy and should hold up nicely for home or occasional location use. They fire consistently when triggered by an on-camera flash (I used an 430EX @ 1/64th power, pointed at the ceiling while I was waiting on my radio trigger), or with a RF trigger. They work great with the famous cheap Japanese radio triggers. Mount is identical to Elinchrom, so there are tons of modifiers available. Stands: Feel sturdy alone, but a bit wobbly when extended with head and softbox/umbrella attached. They might be sturdy enough by themselves, but I fixed this quickly and easily by picking up some 10-pound ankle weights for cheap and strapping them around the bottom of the stands. Now they are extremely solid and I won't hesitate putting a larger softbox/strip on them in the future. I know of many others who add weights to their popular expensive brand stands, so I don't feel like I'm fixing a flaw of a "cheap" kit. The stands are air-cushioned, but not really smooth when doing so. Might be enough to save a flash head if dropped, but hopefully I'll never have to test it. The rest: My kit came with a softbox (which seems pretty high quailty for the price), white shoot through and silver/black reflector umbrella, snoot with gels and honeycomb, 3 standard reflectors, and a bag that carries it all nicely packed together. 3 pc sync cables are also included, but I haven't used them. The background is huge and good quality, but I skipped the "Command" adhesive hangers that come with it, and used some metal condiut as a curtain-rod that hangs from the ceiling in my basement studio. I'm just learning how to do studio lighting and I feel this is a great beginner kit for the small studio. Plenty of power for portraits and such, and it includes many accessories to get you started right out of the box. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a nice 3-head entry level kit.

This would be a good choice for the beginner wanting to setup a basic home studio with strobes. Includes a handy carrying case to hold everything.

The Interfit EX150 MKII has been built from the ground up combining many of the features of the multiple award winning EX150 introduced in 2005. With 150 w/s the MKII EX150 has more power then its predecessor and a newly designed polycarbonate body. Easy access to the controls ensures you can set just the right amount of light on your subject.
Each head features, user changeable flash tubes, switchable modelling lamps and Built in Infrared sensor add to ease of use. It comes with a specially commissioned educational and training DVD to show just how easy studio lighting can be for first time users.
The DVD is full of useful tips on how to set up the kits ensuring you can expand your creativity. The 3 head kit has a small compact lighting stand for the 3rd EX150 head, a sturdy bag for easy storage and transportation to and from location.
