Shopper : I have two question. 1 does this take elinchrom mount accessories? I ask the because when you filter for elinchrom mount compatable lights this one comes up. My second question is, can this be triggered by another flash near by going off?JOSE A : Yes, they fit the Elinchrom accessories and yes, they do have a sensor that is triggered by another flash, however if it's too bright or big open space and the sensor can't see the other flash go off can fail. We love ours! Good luck.
Shopper : Does this unit have the "S" type mount?ANDREW R : I believe that this unit uses the EX type mount, not S.
Shopper : can i use the pocket wizard with this unit?LYNDON J : YesDIANN L : I use a pocket wizard III with this unit.LARS L : You can connect a Pocket Wizard to the unit with a PC cord (comes with PW and Flash). I use the Pocket Wizard PLUS III with my unit. The EXD400 does not have built in Pocket Wizard capability.

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the stands

I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the stands. They are very sturdy. The heads have a handle so you don't have to worry about dropping the light. The digital readout for power level is easy to use. Overall I'm extremely happy with this kit.

Awesome

This kit is a outstanding deal! They work great! Nice that they include a softbox and umbrella although I've seen better umbrellas. Nice package and carry bag. For comparison sake I have Elinchrom lights. Much to my disappointment one head was defective. No issue with these. I recommend ike these.

Best bang for the buck

I've done a fair bit of research and for the price these are flat out the best bang for the buck. Yes there are better lights out there. Yes there are cheaper lights out there. These represent the best balance between the two worlds. The modeling lights are fully dimable, they have fan cooling, and each is rated at 400 w/s which is more than enough power to cover anything i've encountered so far. I did have the reflectors that come with this kit both horribly smashed in transit, but adorama did remedy the problem with minimal hassle. The bottom line is, if you are looking for the best balance between features and price, as of right now, this is it.

The Interfit EXD400 Digital Flash Head (110V AC) is another step forward in the evolution of the Ex flash system. The lightweight, economical monolight gives you a total of 400W/s of power, with precise power adjustment in 1/10 f-stop increments and a 6 f-stop range, providing excellent control over your lighting. Fan-cooling extends the life of both the 100W modeling light and the user-replaceable flash tube. A built-in slave cell responds to flash or to the optional infrared transmitter and audible and visible signals alert you when the flash is fully recycled.

It even has a program that overcomes the problem of pre-exposure flash from a camera setting off your flashes prematurely. The EXD400's Auto-Dump feature discharges extra power in the capacitors, the second you turn down the power. The EXD400 comes with an umbrella reflector, built-in ergonomic handle and a flash tube transport cover.
