Review Summary
Embark on an expedition with the Parrot Airborne Night Drones! Thanks to their powerful white LED lights, activated from the FreeFlight 3 application, the Airborne Night Drones can explore the shadows of darkness. During night patrols, the pilot can adjust the intensity of the Airborne Night Drones headlights and send signals, in common with their terrestrial Jumping Night Drones counterparts.
The Airborne Night Drones are actually flying robots suitable for operation both indoors or outside, piloted using Bluetooth Smart via the free FreeFlight 3 application for Smartphones and Tablets. Particularly compact, the latest Parrot MiniDrones measure just 15cm x 15cm and with lightweight construction weigh just 54 grams or 63 grams including the detachable indoor hull, designed to protect the propellers.
The Airborne Night Drones are full of sensors and have remarkable flight stability, utilizing technology usually dedicated to much larger models. A 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope measure and analyze each movement or inclination of the MiniDrone and automatically adjust the position with the autopilot. The 550mAh LiPo battery lasts for about 9 minutes or 7 minutes with the indoor hull and recharges in approximately an hour using the integral USB charger provided. Fast charging in 25 minutes is possible with an optional 2.6A Parrot charger. (Not included )
A vertical camera compares an image of the ground, to the previous one every 16 milliseconds, to determine the speed of the MiniDrone. It also enables the MiniDrone to take snapshots, which are saved on the 1GB internal flash memory, perfect for aerial selfies that may be transferred onto a computer via the embedded micro USB connector.
The Airborne Night Drones can achieve high speed flights of up to 11 mph and aerobatics on command, they race, turn right, turn left and perform flips with amazing accuracy and stability. Following a swipe on the piloting screen, the Airborne Night Drone will turn 90 or 180 degrees in a flash. Always on alert, simply toss the Airborne night Drone into the air and their sensors detect it instantaneously, the engines start and it stabilizes automatically!
