Questions & Answers

victoria.kl@sympatico.ca K : I'm guessing you can change the background easily or does it come with a lot of options?BRAD W : The back of the tent has several velcro areas that the background material can attach to. I find putting in the color backgrounds very easy.NOEL P : This product comes with two backgrounds, a black and white seamless cloth. They are easy to attach to the pop up tent using sewn in Velcro fasteners. If you sew, it would be very easy to make your own backgrounds in any color or pattern. You will want to steam or iron the backgrounds before use as they are quite wrinkled coming out of the package. Store them wrapped around a long cardboard tube (think wrapping paper) to prevent more wrinkles. NOEL P : This product comes with two backgrounds, a black and white seamless cloth. Changing from one color to the other is a matter of separating the background insert's Velcro tabs from those installed in the body of the lite box. Not super easy but not hard. It's Velcro after all. You do have to pay some attention to keeping the insert's fabric smooth when attaching it. What you should REALLY pay attention to, is how the lite box first unfolds when you set it up. There are no instructions to explain or show how to refold the lite box for storage. I didn't find this a problem as I'm used folding up windshield shades which I use to protect the dash of my car from the Arizona sun.
Shopper : Do you have any suggestions or tips on using it?MARSHALL H : The tent works great. Had to look at an online video before I understood how to fold it back up correctly. Once you do it once and get it down it's easy and fast to take down and get back in the zippered case. The set up I usually use is 2 continuous flourescent bulbs, 1 aimed at each side. Usually make one a little more dominant by keeping it closer and moving it forward, the other back a little. Gives shadows, but they're soft. Occassionally bounce another light or use a little hand reflector to light up the very face of a product or to throw a little light underneath something. Exposures are slow with my set-up so I'm shooting on a tripod. I've used the tent on the floor, but of course work is easier if it's up on a table. I have also shot very small items with on camera flash bouncing up into the light tent. Several times I didn't want to mess at all with lights I took the light tent out on the patio. Ambient sunlight was the light source. Why use the light tent outside? It still acts to soften shadows and helps to control reflections if photographing anything with chrome or shiny surfaces.
