Have always used Paterson Developing tank and reels. I had to replace 2 old reels, and the new ones have poor QC IMO. One reel is VERY STIFF to twist apart. One reel I sent back because it would not twist apart. The replacement is also VERY STIFF to twist apart. My old reels are much easier (even when new!) 3 stars because of manufacture changes that resulted in a much stiffer reel to twist apart.

Great reels for the Paterson tanks. Well constructed. I wish they had a little larger tabs where the film is first inserted for easier loading of the spool. Highly recommended!

It's a fine product. It does its job well. It's my fault that I didn't read the size on the description and it doesn't fit the tank I bought with it. I mistakenly thought such things were standardized but forgot that I had run into the same problem back in the 1980's. So at least I got some slight nostalgic feeling from it. But with the right-sized tank this is a good reel. I have used it in the past. Just wish I'd remembered about the different sizes.

I’m new to developing at home, we bought a used dev tank, not sure what brand it is but the reels were terrible. I bought this as a test replacement and it works wonderful! It’s so easy to load and my film doesn’t get stuck while loading. I highly recommend.

* I use medium format and exhibit my photographs. *I used Patterson tanks and reels always. They are logical and well designed and always consistent. The developing process with Patterson tanks and reels ensures that I get the results I want. * Loading 120 film could be tricky but with Patterson it is easily overcome. Sacrifice ONE unexposed film and practice getting the film on the reel and separating the backing paper. From there on you will fall in love with Patterson and its products.

Takes a little practice to load in the dark. But it is easy to use and I've gotten good results. Couldn't be happier.

Best Deal On Patterson Reel!

Great product! Exactly what I need to modify for a 110 reel.
Even first-time users can load Paterson reels quickly and without crimps. One reel adjusts in a snap for loading 35mm, 126, 127, 120 or 220mm film. The unique ball bearing ratchet system makes film loading foolproof. The reel's acetyl resin construction is strong, chemical-resistant and able to withstand high film drying temperatures.
