After cleaning batteries with a paper-towel, removing the paper tab to prevent operation and placing teflon tape on the threads to prevent loss of the head from accidental unscrewing, it becomes an excellent mini-flashlight. From reading previous reviews prior to purchase and testing them after receiving them, I found the battery cleaning necessary on all 5 received.
