This camera offers very good manual controls, and is good in low light situations. It also offers good audio controls--real dials and switches, not menu-driven!

I used the Panasonic HMC150 before this camera and loved it. That's why I purchased the AC130AP but this camera is a step backwards. The HMC150 was a much better camera. My main two issues are the focus and the sound quality. This camera is very bad if you want to use auto focus. I can have the subject front and centered, not moving, and lite properly and yet the camera can't stay in focus. Instead, every so often it searches for a focus by going out of focus and then back into focus. No matter what I tried, I could not get the camera to stay in focus. I even took it in to Panasonic to get it fixed thinking it was a camera issue but they said nothing was wrong with the camera so I guess it's normal that this camera can't stay focused. The other problem is the sound quality. One reason I liked the HMC150 was because I could record fabulous sound straight into the camera. This camera was supposed to be the same thing but it's not. The sound is awful. I just had to make a small change in a video I did using the HMC150 but I used the AC130AP for the change. When I added the footage and the sound, the quality was night and day between the two cameras. I can't even use the new footage because the sound is go bad compared to how great it was with the HMC150. This is the last time I'm buying a Panasonic camera product because they don't get better with new cameras, they get worse and I don't want to take that risk again.

I needed a universal video camera that could also handle pageants, graduations, and weddings (my money makers). This one is it, though it has a large camera body by today's standards. I like the large size because so many options and settings are in the form of buttons and switches on the outside of the camera, thus not buried in digital menus. The ability to record directly to SD and the large 22x zoom were key features.

This ultra-compact, handheld camcorder from Panasonic is equipped with a host of useful features that provide a better platform than its predecessor, the AG-AC130 camera. Some of these essential features are the expanded focus assist functionality and a "turbo speed" one-push auto focus function. Such features will help you zoom in on the action with instant focus. This remarkable camcorder also comes built with a high-sensitivity 1/3, full-HD 2.2 megapixel 3-MOS imagers which help you capture native 1920 x 1080 resolution images, together with its new, wider 22X HD zoom lens, which is the longest in its group.

Other key features include compatibility with Panasonic?s new SDHC full Class 10 UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed) Memory Cards, an enhanced viewfinder, an LCD display, and DV recording.
Product Highlights
The Panasonic AG-AC130A is an upgrade version of the AG-AC130 camera. In addition to all the features of the AG-AC130, this AG-AC130A adds an expanded focus assist functionality and a "turbo speed" one-push auto focus function.
The AG-AC130A AVCCAM HD handheld camcorder offers a high-sensitivity 1/3", full-HD 2.2 megapixel U.L.T. (Ultra Luminance Technology) 3-MOS imager to capture native 1920 x 1080 or 1280 x 720 AVCHD utilizing the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 codec. Coupling a 22x zoom lens with three independent adjustable rings (zoom, focus and iris), recordings look clean and crisp, without image degradation or dropouts and cover most shooting situations without the need for a wide-angle conversion lens.
The AC130A records video in four professional AVCCAM HD recording modes, including the highest-quality PH mode (average 21 Mbps/Max 24Mbps), the HA mode (approx.17 Mbps), the extended recording HE mode (approx. 6 Mbps) and a PM mode (approx. 8 Mbps, 720p only), which is ideal for shooting sports training and web video. With two SD Memory Card slots for relay or simultaneous recording, the AC130A can record up to 12 hours on two 64GB SD cards in PH mode, with automatic clip spanning across the two cards. In addition to SDXC and SDHC cards, the AC130A supports Panasonic's new SDHC full Class 10 UHS-1 (Ultra High Speed) Memory Cards, with transfer rates of 90MBs - 4-1/2 times as fast as the previous generation of SDHC media.
