I use the camera to film skateboarding. The footage is used for online websites, promotional clips and dvds. Camera is pretty easy to use, very high quality for its price, good for fast-moving footage, and adequate in filming low-light situations. Very happy with it so far.

I have owned the original first version DVX 100 which has performed marvelously since purchase in 2002. It has been used for internet news gathering and coverage of political events in addition to one documentary film. I will be coupling that camera w/ my new (pre-owned) DVX 100 B which I purchased from Adorama w/ a very nice assortment of accessories to act as a main camera for an internet panel news show. Both of these cameras offer all of the capabilities that I require in order to accomplish my goals. I had reviewed the other options available including at higher price points and find that the Panasonic AGDVX 100 being the camera of choice. The B model is of more rugged construction than my original first generation which has held up just fine. I am confident that the 100 B model will likewise be exceptionally durable. I found Adorama's pkg which I purchased to be value priced as well. Best Regards, John Russell, Dade City, Fl.

I got two of these for my business. I don't need HD for my field, though I had originally looked at HD cameras since it seemed foolish not to. All the reviews I read led me to the DVX 100B though after looking at similarly priced HD cameras that just didn't seem that good or easy to use. The camera has been around for a while and still has a great reputation. It is solidly built, a good size and has all the features needed to make great professional video. If you need HD then obviously you're gonna need something else, but if not, this is the best value out there and probably better than a lot of cameras that cost a bit more.

This is a great camera. Recently upgraded from the AG-DVX100A, and am more than pleased with the benefits of the 100B. Controls and handling are similar to both the 100 & 100A, but 100B has much less operating noise. Sleeker design, and the new cover keeps the machine very clean. Also very durable - took the 100B to the Sudan and shot segments for a documentary. Responded well to a wide variety of conditions, and even took a fall to the ground with no damange, either internally or externally. Overall, fantastic machine. Great camera. Good for both pros or those wanted to take a great step up in their videography work.

Great camera that shoots great looking video in any lighting. More features than you will ever need. Please offer more packages to go along with camera like additional battery or carrying case.

4:2:1 color sampling and small chip size are limiting factor to Independent Filmers intent on Film transfers. This is an EXCELLENT camera for the beginning filmer. But, I recommend moving to the High Definition Camera (HVX200) if you can afford it.

The DVX100B offers 20 improvements over the DVX100A it's replacing! Some are significant, some are minor, but all are welcome changes that make an old favorite just that much better.
The DVX100B becomes the first under-$5,000 camera to offer full-frame viewing! The new viewfinder and LCD show the full frame, rather than the overscan frame typical on other cameras. The VF and LCD are also higher resolution. The LCD panel gets a modest boost, from 200,000 pixels (on the DVX100A) to 210,000 (on the DVX100B). But the viewfinder gets a massive infusion of resolution, going from 180,000 dots to 230,000 pixels.
Finally, the VF & LCD now have selectable display aspect ratios! That means they can show either 4:3 or unsqueezed 16:9. In squeeze mode, the LCD now shows proper framing. The aspect ratio can be manually or automatically controlled, which means you can also use it in conjunction with the Anamorphic adapter and still see the properly-displayed widescreen picture.
The DVX100B offers the same remote focus/remote iris control that will be included on the HVX200. There are now 2 remote ports, 1 for zoom/rec (which is compatible with existing DVX zoom controllers) & a new port that provides for remote focus & iris! In the DVX100B they've introduced a new menu option which lets you choose which source the headphone jack uses live, or from tape. Choose live & the ECHO IS GONE! The DVX100B now makes matching multiple cameras a breeze. You can instantly share your settings with another user, or calibrate multiple cameras to have identical settings
TThe X100B has the ability to sync to external timecode! The video signal-to-noise ratio has been improved. DVX100B footage is noticeably cleaner, with less video noise. The microphone sensitivity has also been increased by 6dB. Display Off button now with the press of a button, you can hide all the information on the LCD & viewfinder.
Now with the DVX100B you can use End Search right from camera mode. The menu system got an Extreme Makeover. On the DVX100B the middle zoom speed has been slowed down so it's a smoother transition between the slowest and fastest speeds.
The LCD Panel's hinge has been redesigned. the VCR buttons have been moved inside the LCD panel (where the speaker was), & the speaker has been moved outside the camera body. The transport has been completely beefed up. On the 100B the Scene dial is almost completely protected, to avoid accidental changing. The DVX100B has a newly-designed, heavy-duty tripod socket. The DVX100B is fully compliant lead-free.
The DVX100B shows its colors with a sleek new Black Sapphire body color. The manual has been shrunken down aprox. 25%, so it is now much easier to fit inthe camera bag.
The DVX100B once again includes a head-cleaning tape. the DVX100B ditches the old CGR-D16 battery (90 minutes) & replaces it with the massive, magnificent CGR-D54, a battery that can drive the camera for nearly 5.5 hours.
