I bought this bag because of all the positive reviews that I read, but when I re dived the product I was very disappointed with it due to poor padding on the interior of the bag the inserts were very hard and I dropped the bag with some camera equipment in it. The camera equipment did not survive. So as far as I am concerned I would never own a Peak Design camera bag because of that. Your camera straps and capture plates I love, it hate your bags.

So far I absolutely love it. My first camera bag was the 6L sling. Now I switched to full frame, got two camera bodies, and carry additional lenses and flash equipment and the 13L really let's me carry a lot more. It's great design that I expect from Peak and it looks awesome too.

That messenger bag is really beautiful and well designed! I love the new green color too! The only flaw would be that it's more of a DSLR photo bag; my Leica M lenses need way less space in the inserts, so I need to put a camera cube in it? Not so quick to get one out then! As for my Fuji system, it's more okay, but still a bit too wide. And if I want to use it as a computer bag only, then I have to remove all the inserts because the scratch is using up the whole bag. So please make a bit smaller bag one day, promise ? I don't like the sling bags because then it's too tight! There is something missing between this 13 L. bag and the sling 10 L.? Peak: why not combine your camera cube system and your EDC carry so then you can switch from outdoor bags or travel bags to a city bag easily, as you travel goes (just like Shimoda did?) ;) Eager to see the next version of it though ! Awful downgrade, so depressing. V1's top zip was incredible and I used it every day, it was my favourite part about the bag and it was a joy to use. The removal in v2 makes no sense and destroys it completely for me.

I use V1 15 inch and get a replacement V2 13inch due to V1 is end of life. I prefer V1 as 1. I like the material for V1, V2 is more plastic. 2. I like the top zipper on V1, V2 remove this zipper. 3. The space is bigger than V1 15inch 4. The length for V1 strap can be easier to be adjust while for V2. I can easily adjust the length of V1 strap while using. But for adjusting the strap of V2, I always need to unload the bag first from my shoulder, otherwise, it's very hard to adjust the strap while the bags on my shoulder. For my self, I will prefer V1 rather than V1

I bought this bag only yesterday but it works perfectly fine for my Z9 and two small lenses (24-70 and 85). Can even hold my 70-200 including FTZ. Just a fraction more room for the Z9 would have been nice but isn't a real problem. The one thing preventing me for rating 5 starts is the strap. When at full length (I'm a tall guy) the padding isn't centred and doesn't add support on the shoulder any more, only noticed this once I got home. Seems to be a very easy fix, remove the strap and add strap ends with anchors, then use a Slide as the strap. Can even be added retrospectively!

Had the 15L messenger for many years and when I changed to the 13L I feared it would not be enough for my gear. But I am happy to report that it can fit 2 DSLRs, 2 small lenses, 1 large lens, speedlight , trigger, magmod bubble, power bank , batteries, SD cards and anything you might want for a wedding day. As for the quality, classic top of the line peak design.

This has been my most used bag over the last few years, especially when not far from home/the car, photographing in the city where it is really nice to be able to do whatever you need to without putting the bag down on a surface, but still being able to then cinch it up and sling it to your back when needed. Keeps water out even from the sides surprisingly well in all day rainy weather. Holds more than you would expect it to and it's great to have that expandability to fit a few things you pick up along the way sometimes.

I bought my first V1 messenger in 2017. My only complaint was the annoying sound coming from the metal connector between the strap and the body. The strap later ruptured and Peak Design gladly replaced it with a newer version. I think it is V1.5 but I am not sure. Definitely, it is not the V2. However, the replacement bag has also eventually showed this annoying, squeaking sound while I walk. I tried applying a little silicone lubricant but the sound is still there.

I live in the PNW and I can say with absolute confidence that every dollar on this bag has been well spent. If you don't immediately balk at the price tag and are looking for a weatherized, professionally styled commuter bag you will want to take with you everywhere, look no further. The storage capacity has proven exactly right for my everyday carry. My relatively large work laptop fits tightly into the compartment in the bag (14"x9.5" for reference). The remaining internal storage is great for the chargers and gadgets I can't go without, plus whatever I might need with me that day like a travel umbrella, a 28oz water bottle, etc. The quick-adjustable strap is nigh perfectly executed. I previously dailied a Chrome bag with a similar feature, but the strap dangled annoyingly when tightened down, which this bag notably avoids. The quick-release latch is fantastic for access and ergonomics, but at greater volume configurations some weatherization is sacrificed as small gaps are created between the top flap and the body of the bag. As a transit, non-bike commuter, I'd recommend this product to anyone in a similar situation. For anyone valuing aesthetics, I work in a professional office environment (insofar as you can in the PNW), and I've had this bag called a briefcase more often than a messenger bag. For me, this bag perfectly executes being both rugged and professional, with thoughtful and minimal design tradeoffs in both areas.

I've had the V1 version since 2014 or 2015 and loved it. The zipper on the laptop compartment of that bag broke in 2017 and it was replaced at that time. Recently the friction material on the strap started to break down and leave sticky black smudges on everything. Bag was replaced again, and since the V1 is no longer available they sent me the V2 13L. I agree with another review on here that this bag is a step back. It works, but it's not as good. The one area of improvement is the strap adjuster works the opposite direction of the old one, and is easier to use now. Here are the negatives: - The laptop compartment is in the main compartment rather than having its own zipper. Fewer zippers to break, but less flexible in use. - The material isn't as nice as the old one. It's stiffer and the texture is more abrasive. - The capacity is smaller. This is an obvious one, but my crappy dell from work barely fits. The old version could carry a 15" MBP and an iPad easily. - There is no longer a zipper on top to access the interior - The tripod passthrough is no longer there. They've added external staps and connection points, but I like the old design. - They removed the external size pockets. They were small, but were good for a phone or headphones. - The front pocket zipper is now tiny. The old bag had a zipper that went down the sides to give a wider opening and easier access. This new one is very restrictive. - The flap DOES NOT WANT TO BE OPEN. Lay the bag on its back, and open the top and it closes on its own. Its too stiff and very annoying. - The material on the back of the strap is no longer smooth and easy to slide over clothing, so you have to support the weight of the bag while spinning it around your body to avoid twisting your clothes. I really wish they could have just replaced the strap on my old bag. I don't like this new one at all and I'll probably look to another manufacturer for something that better suits my needs.

It's been over 3 years and I use it every day to go to work. it is perfect and adaptable. he endures all the bad weather because I travel by motorbike and he is strapped to the Sissy Bar without being protected. as I use it a lot it got worn out when closing. I spoke to Peak Design about it and as it has a lifetime warranty, they changed it for me so it wouldn't tear. Well done after-sales service.

I am a proud owner of the V1 Messenger and I love it (like a lot of other PD things), but it starts to look quite used and I was interested in the progress, so I ordered the V2. My very first impression was "ouch, it's small." I just came back from vacation, my V1 still packed, and I tried to put everything into the V2 and failed miserably. Besides that I missed some features like the belly strap or the extra Laptop bag on on the back. Also the bag is not as expandable as V1. And the material ist somewhat stiff. Overall i was very disappointed and send it back . BTW the place of the serial number is a very bad joke.

So I got this bag under a warranty claim on my version 1 messenger bag so can compare directly. The bag is nice and feel very sturdy. It should last the test of time. They've done away with the rubber on the strap which is what caused me to claim on my warranty from version one so this is a welcome change. The new inserts are better and have more configurations than version 1 and are more sturdy. Downsides to this bag is I think it's about 20% smaller than version 1. The front pocket is substantially smaller and they've done away with the red and green stitching on the pockets which was great for knowing which pockets contained used memory cards and batteries and which were good to go. They've replaced that with a notch or light grey stick hinge and a notch of dark grey.. so I guess you'll have to decide which one means which and remember it.

I reveived the V2 Messenger bag after a warranty claim on my V1 bag. Peak Design no-nonsense customer service is just perfect! About the bag: in some aspects the V2 bag is a nice improvement compared to the V1 bag. However, I do miss the quick access (zipper) on top for accessing the main compartment when carrying the bag on a shoulder. A 15 inch version would also be nice. I hope Peak Design will make a V3 version which combines the best of both the V1 and V2 bags.

sometimes if I'm in a bad mood and I open this bag, I want to throw it across the room. The top flap is so annoyingly stiff that it won't stay open when reaching in and out of it. I also long for the old days when there was a 15L (or even larger) messneger style bag.

i have purchased a lot of bags professionally over the years but always come back to this one as an easy carry for a pro body with lens attached, a tele and a wide angle plus a flash. Perfect size for it and prevents you from over packing. Still looks as good as new after many years of use.

I have V1 and it is AMAZING! I love this bag and it gets used HARD in my company. The versatility was unsurpassed and the easy access, just enough pockets, and straps made it extraordinary! We've traveled across the country on multiple occasions and it's still my favorite go-to for my camera gear. I then got V2 for my other half and he uses it literally everyday as his work bag (Chief of Staff at a special needs school). This is NOT a camera bag. It won't hold his computer (15inch) like my V1, it can't carry enough camera gear to be worthwhile because the compartments are too small, and if he needs his iPad, he definitely can't add any standard camera gear. Our Nikon d850 does not fit at all (extra battery housing, of course), and if I add my Nikon 70-200 then nothing else fits safely. This is only a tech back-up bag for us. It can carry a couple of our flashes and then cords. Honestly, it's like they forgot what made this bag really useful and amazing (namely, fitting camera gear with easy and quick access) and made it just another messenger bag. Thankfully, my other half uses it as his work bag (you know, just another messenger bag) and we don't use it for photography. I'm so very sad, because I would have happily grabbed a second camera gear bag but now I have to go research somewhere else. Guys, bring back V1!
