This backpack has been a gamechanger for me when I travel. Often, I find that I can condense what used to be a 2-bag trip to this single backpack. It feels like I can fit way more stuff in here than I have any right to, and the organization is thoughtful and easy to access. In over a year of heavy use, I've had zero issues, even when forced to check the bag on flights. My only complaint is it's a bit on the heavy side, but that's a small price to pay for the durability, features, and organization niceties. Would buy this again in a heartbeat, and it made me a peak design fan for the long haul.

I'm in a band that tours heavily doing multi-week runs and 2-4 night runs and this has become my go-to travel bag. It's really not an exaggeration to say you can pack over a week's worth of clothing into this bag. All the compartments are well thought out and I can nicely organize tech, meds, clothing, etc. I can't overstate how much I love this bag.

?? Used & Tested for 2 Years When I first picked up the Peak Design Travel Backpack 45L, I was looking for a versatile bag that could handle everything from weekday office life to longer international trips. After using it for the past two years, I can confidently say: this bag exceeded my expectations and make me want to buy more products from Peak Design. First Impressions The design is sleek, minimal, and feels extremely premium. The black color looks professional enough for work daily life short trips and international travel. The design look smart and materials feel durable lightweight. What I Love: ? Expandable and versatile - It adapts from 30L for a daily carry to 45L for extended travel, thanks to its smart expansion zippers. ? Easy access - Multiple entry points (top, side, and rear) make it easy to grab what you need without unpacking everything. ? Super organized - Internal dividers, hidden pockets, and a brilliant layout keep clothes, tech gear, and documents neatly separated. ? Comfortable to carry - Padded shoulder straps and the hip belt (which neatly tucks away) make carrying heavy loads surprisingly comfortable. ? Durability - After rough flights, rainstorms, and bumpy rides, the bag still looks almost brand new. Minor Drawbacks: ? When fully expanded to 45L and fully packed, it can feel bulky - especially if you're on crowded public transportation. ? Padded shoulder straps is fantastic but could use a bit more soft padded for ultra-heavy loads. Who This Bag is For: If you want one backpack that can work for daily - business trips, hiking weekends, or a month abroad - this is it. It's perfect for minimalists, digital nomads, photographers, and anyone who appreciates functional design. Final Verdict: Peak Design absolutely nailed it with the Travel Backpack 45L. It's not the cheapest backpack out there, but in terms of durability, smart minimalist design, and versatility, it's a smart long-term investment.

Very impressed. I've been a backpacker/traveler for a long time and this thing is legit. It's very well thought out, with lots of pockets, hidden pockets, access points, expansion panels, etc. It has all kinds of hidden items that are very impressive and on top of it all, it's very well made. I just spent a week in Japan living out of this, with it full to the brim and it performed perfectly. The handles are stout enough (and it has a lot) and all of the zippers are very well made, with solid stitching. I was very pleasantly surprised with how well made this pack was, and I've owned a lot of backpacks in my day. This is my first Peak Designs pack but I'll definitely look at them for any future needs based on this pack.

Had a Cotopaxi travel backpack, but didn't like hope bully it was. I returned it and got the PD travel backpack 45L. I love the way the straps tuck behind the back panel and disappear - so convenient when on an airplane. Also love how sleek it is when in the 30L mode. The zippers, pockets and layout all work perfectly. And to top it off, the pack looks so good. Highly recommend!!

Bought as a gift and haven't given it yet, but my initial impression is the backpack is very well made and the organization is designed well. I'm a big fan of Aer products, and the organization and quality seems similar.

I've taken the 45L Black Travel Backpack on one trip so far, and am really impressed with how versatile it is. When I travel for work, I need something that I can take to the office but but that's also suitable for carry lots. I usually travel on Amtrak and this fits well above the seat. I packed this bag full, unloaded some stuff in the hotel room drawers, then when I went to work the next day...I snapped the top of the bag to make the bag look more streamlined for the office. It doesn't look like your about to go camping. It's aesthetically beautiful yet discreet...which I appreciate. Love all the hidden nooks for their strap system as well. This may be obvious but it gets HEAVY, so that is just one thing to note. You probably don't want to carry it on your back for too long. The shoulder straps are a bit stiff but hopefully will wear in a bit. Definitely use the included passthrough to put this on your luggage if you can.

So comfortable, spacious, and beautiful. Compress it for EDC, or expand when you're traveling. My go-to, no matter what.

I bought this backpack almost 2 years ago! Most of the year I'm somewhere else, so I like to joke that this backpack is my house (??). Even I use it a lot, it looks brand new! One of my primary concerns was the safety of my notebook inside, I didn't have any problems yet (always fully packed). Only two things I can think are not ideal. Firstly, is not a backpack for hiking. I like to hike and this is usually my only backpack so I use it anyways, but when I compare it to other hiking backpacks is not as comfortable (the solution I found is to exercise my shoulders and back ??). Lastly, the chest strap is losable. Since it can be fully detached, it's not impossible it will fall when you have it on just on one side and you will lose it. Thankfully they sell replacement strap, so I used a cheap one from an outdoor store until I could buy it from them.

The quality, the amount of functionalities and the way they're implemented is very good. Flaws are that it doesn't stand very well by itself, there are no dedicated ways to use a lock for zippers (you still can, I think, but the zippers aren't designed for that). That's what I expect from an item costing this much, that's why I say that value is "average"

I travel frequently and am done with checking my bags. My other carry on begs are too heavy for me at 5' tall 107 pounds. Everything about this bag appeals to me, lightweight material, so many little places to store things. I'm 68, and I'm traveling often. Next stop Costa Rica!

After careful research, I decided to buy this backpack for my long trips. Although it is not a cheap product, as soon as I received it, I immediately noticed the high quality of the materials and construction, confirming that the price is justified. A very useful aspect is represented by the video tutorials on the Peak Design YouTube channel, which provide a clear and detailed overview of the product, allowing you to know it thoroughly before even using it. In person, the backpack appears rather large, perfect for long trips and for those who have significant space requirements. However, I could recommend a 30L version for daily use, which is more compact and versatile.

Love all the engineering and details, the structure and the look. I'm 5'4 and fits me well, got the hip belt too. Have taken it for 3-4 day trips but not yet on a plane. Looking forward to using it on my 10 day euro trip. Packs so much.

I've had my eye on this travel backpack for at least a year. I finally bought it as a Christmas gift to myself!! I travel monthly and have tried several packs. This one checks all the boxes and being a smaller woman, the waist belt was a big benefit for a pack this size.

My wife and I have two 45L travel backpacks and love them. We have used them on a number of multi-week trips but on a recent trip they served us well by doubling as a multi-day trekking pack. We hiked the Milford Track (4 days), the Routeburn Track (3 days), and the Abel Tasman (2 days) as part of a much longer trip and did not want to bring a second pack specifically for these three treks. The pack carried all we needed (food, sleeping bag, extra layers, pots and stove, tent, water etc.) and was really quite comfortable to carry. I know some people have complained that the shoulder straps were uncomfortable, but we found them to work great and the sternum strap and waist belt were super adjustable allowing us to shift the weight during our walks. The pack allows for great organization and we were able to fit everything easily inside in a compact pack vs. a lot of the much larger packs others used for the tracks that had gear strapped and hung from various points. We also liked the lack of straps etc. hanging out and dangling which is so common with hiking packs. As it was New Zealand, it did rain on us, and we hade no issues with our gear getting wet. We had just a little wetness near the upper zipper, but I think that is because we did not have the zippers off to the side of the pack one day. Overall, really impressed with the bag for travel (it's by far the best carry on bag I have ever owned), but also with its ability to be used on shorter treks. My wife and I hike, climb, and travel a lot and she says it is her favorite pack of all time. Thanks for the great gear!

I bought it a few weeks ago so it's the beginning of my adventure with Peak Design and this backpack but I already know... it's amazing in terms of quality, packability and usability. I love it and definitely will come back for more gear.

Originally had the 35L duffel and it was just a touch too small for some trips. This 45L is perfect for all sorts of trips, just wish I was traveling more!

The reality of age, is finding ways to make good things last longer. My wife and I travel a lot, but wanted to have only one bag for both my camera kit and my clothes On the first trip with the Peak Design 45L Travel Backpack, this looks like I finally have the right bag. We are four nights in New York after a day of air travel I had no trouble with carrying my clothes and a large camera kit of two Olympus cameras and six lenses using a medium camera cube. Getting through the airports was easy with the back pack using one of the side openings for a camera and one for my liquids at security. It will take several trips to fine tune my gear, but mine days in Europe in a few weeks should be the test.

I have had this backpack for six years, and it has been with me on a dozen international trips, many more domestic flights, and car trips. It only shows very minor cosmetic wear. The packing cubes make it easy to keep everything well-organized. I don't miss the days when I had to dig through a bag for a key or a document.

Overall a good Backpack. Handels everywhere and very good Accessability. The Black Material gets dirty very easy. It get directly white spots when I touch it. When its heavy loaded over 10kg it gets uncomfortabel at the breast. The Material should be way softer in this area. The Breast belt is to small for tall people like me, over 1,9m. But overall a good Backpack i would buy again.

I absolutely love this backpack in almost every way. It offers so many smart solutions for organizing, packing, and commuting. There are plenty of videos on YouTube showcasing how well it's built, and all of that is absolutely true. The material feels incredible, and while placing a tripod in the side pockets does stretch it a bit, I've never felt like the material would give way. It's by far the best backpack I've ever owned. That said, it's a bit small for me, as the waist belt sits a little too high for someone like me-a 1.90m tall guy with broad shoulders.
