I bought a factory second version of this bag and the zipper doesn't work. PD doesn't give a warranty for their factory second bags even though they claim the bags aren't defective. That's false marketing. One shouldn't have to pay $175 for a bag that doesn't work.

Bought this a little over a month ago and was suprised at how much I am able to fit into it. Pockets both internal and external are great for all the various chargers and gadgets I have on trips.

I was obsessed with this backpack since the first time I saw a YouTube video about it, and I basically knew every feature I was gonna get when it arrived. So I knew about the 500 features this bag has, the compression, the versatility, and, of course, the straps. I didn't really care because during my whole life I've been a backpack guy, taking one with me everywhere I go, so my mind said "we´ll tank it, right?". So I did, and it kind of worked, but the flaws of the support and comfort that this bag should provide are too noticeable to not feel it when walking for longer than 1 block. Again, I can tank it, but maybe I shouldn't have to. Everything else has been an absolute blast, the expansion is life saving, and being a really medium heighted person (1.80m) the compressed mode doesn't look gargantuous for an EDC use as I expected. I´d definitely buy the next version if they do something about the padding and overall comfort. But im so happy with my purchase that I can see past this not-so-minor flaw

I have a lot of different backpacks - hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, ski touring, work, you name it. The 45L is by far my favourite backpack.. So much so that apparently I feel compelled to write a review about it LOL First off, if you're thinking about buying the bag, watch the video walkthrough of it on YouTube. That was extremely informative for me before purchasing. It's just so versatile. I travel alot for work - every 6 weeks - and this bag has been a gamechanger for me. Its extremely well organized, fits with various packing cube systems (I have a 3rd party brand), and fits my big honking hydraflask water bottle on the outside of the bag which I appreciate. The ability to shrink the bag to a 30L size is useful once I'm at a destination and want a slightly smaller, more work oriented laptop. I've started to use it as a duffle bag too now for personal vacations/road trips/weekend getaways. I tuck away the shouldwr straps, unzip the middle divider, and now I have a duffle that I can just carelessly toss clothes into. Seriously great bag. A pricey bag, but an incredible bag.

I bought this backpack in April of 2022, almost exactly 4 years ago and I have to say I love this backpack. BUT unfortunately, I lost the chest strap after 1 year (which is holding by simple pinching hooks, so easy to loose). Also, the main zipper only lasted 3 years. I've been dealing with this broken zipper for 1 year now. I did not yank on it nor anybody else around my backpack. This happened from simple day to day use.

Purchased for a trip to Kenya with three locations. Used in conjunction with a large camera cube, Neoprene body bag, small neoprene pancake lens holder. I carried a 150-500mm, a 70-180mm, a 26mm, Nikon Z6 body, large bathroom dop kit, puffy jacket in a compression bag, paperwork, 3 batteries, large rocket blower, camera strap and various other items. Very useful on safari drives where I could carry my puffy jacket, rain jacket and camera outside the camera cube and other gear in the pocket areas. Weight with gear was about 26 pounds. The backpack itself is about 8 lbs, which means solid protection, and weight. I love the design, but even if that does not float your boat watch the YouTube videos and check out the versatility. Best backpack I have ever owned. For at home, I will get an extra-large cube for my longer lenses.

I just bought this bag and am happy overall with the size, weight and structure. My complaints are twofold, first that the inside pockets on the sides are so small they are practically useless and two, opening the bag to look for something is not easy. The tiny inside pockets may be tactical for some people but I intent to use this as a carry on backpack so there's little I can fit in the pockets. Similarly, the design of the bag is great for packing and unpacking but not great when you need to reach into your bag in an airport or on the plane.

After backing tripod kickstarters and receiving such great customer service on those, decided to buy a travel bag - exceptionally happy with the versatility and quality of the product - After many. many different camera bags,... this one rules ;-)

This has quickly become one of my favorite bags. It is beautiful and functional. I have a rather large, bulky, laptop that isn't easy to accommodate; however, this bag's dedicated laptop storage handles it just fine.

Bought the 30L version of this travel backpack and have traveled with it now maybe 4-5 times. Love how the bag opens up for easy packing and access to everything inside (no digging around inside to find what I want). Also really convenient to have access on the top side, especially when the bag is stowed under the seat in front on the plane. It's almost perfect except for one big miss IMO. You cannot easily slide this bag on top of a roller bag handle in the upright position (like every other backpack)! You have to turn it sideways and then hold the strap on the back open while mounting it onto your roller bag handle. I don't get it. It's very awkward. Fix this and I would give it 5 stars instead of 4.

The fact that I've had to deal with customer service says much about this bag. It's simplicity and space has been nice once you create your organization system for frequent trips. Unfortunately, the zipper has failed on several occasions and now the zipper stitching has completely come undone. Trying to communicate with customer service to claim a warranty on the product has been a waste of time given their copy and paste answers and it's been near impossible to talk with an agent. As a whole, the bag and it's materials are good enough but the zipper is the weak spot and their costumer service is a farse. Given the poor quality zipper, every trip is like playing Russian Roulette to see if the bag will fail me or remain closed throughout the trip. It remains to be an unnecessary stressor.

Amazing people in Peak design who provides amazing backpacks. 'Amazing' is not even a word I normally use. Function, design, quality well balanced. Not sure what I'd do without you guys (and Denizel). Thank you!

Great travel backpack. I've started using it to carry baby supplies onto the plane - compartments are super helpful. Only downside is the buttons to shrink the backpack from 45L to 30L doesn't hold very strongly, so it unsnaps frequently. I also wish the shoulder straps had more padding

The bag is overly heavy for the amount that it holds. The construction is decent, but the camera cube system is pretty bad as it adds weight and doesn't fit in the bag without a gap of about 2" meaning the cube can slide in the bag and there's wasted space. Color isn't as good as I was hoping. Some pockets are hard to access. While it's well made the style isn't very good and as they sacrificed functionality for style it was clearly a poor design decision. I took a chance on an peak design and it was a mistake.

I bought this about a month ago for work trips where I have to travel on budget airlines as this gives me 8.5kg of capacity rather than losing around 3-5kg with a wheeled bag. I've used it on a couple of trips now and have been full up to 10kg and it's been great I'm 5'2 and I find the straps comfortable as long as I use the chest strap when I have it packed out at that weight. Love all the pockets inside which worked great for my various tech bits, makeup, and work odds and sods. I managed to pack for a 5 day trip in this including laptop and iPad and still had room to be bringing some extra samples back with me. Love the way it opens and there's ample space for some PD compression cubes and a couple of the soft pouches too. My 6' other half tried it while it was packed at 10kg and he also found it comfortable

The best backpack I ever own. All the little details, like pockets placement, hidden hip belt, the access to the main compartment and the fabric use was engineer. Such a great pack!

One of the most beautiful and versatile backpacks I've ever owned. This has replaced so many bags for me, and as a videographer, using the camera cubes with this is a dream.

I'm excited to use this on my trip today. So many great and useful features. Places to put things, places to hide things, like straps, places to grab. Too many features to highlight. I can stow my computer and my tablet and have enough room to pack for several days clothes. It's well made of durable material and looks beautiful.

This is an exquisitely put together backpack. Love the materials, love the look. It does what I need it to do, which is help me lug around luggage from the airport or train station into a taxi or public transportation and to a hotel if I don't want to bring a suitcase. The common complaint about the padding being lacking is entirely reasonable, but given my use case and me being sized like a standard-issue male (1.79 m, 90-105 kg, depending on the season), I can't complain about discomfort. It is feature rich, just like every PD backpack, and heavy for what it is because of it, just like most of PD's gear. Whether or not the features are necessary for you is a different question altogether. I don't, but the weight does not bother me one bit.

Using the 20lt for camera bag and personal carry on, leaving on trip today. It was a squeeze but fit everything in, maybe should have gone for 30lt but happy with choice. Did a tryout pack earlier and all went smooth. Looking forward to all the compartments and pocket, hope I remember where I put everything. Great quality and sturdy zippers along with lots of hidden feature. I highly recommend looking at the "pro tips" on Peak YouTube videos, these are very valuable for a first time pack to help put things in the best place.

After my eBag Mother Lode (now Samsonite) started to show signs of wear, I researched my next great travel pack. I go for a few weeks at a time with my pack and wanted something similar. Wirecutter pointed me here. I'm still feeling it out but have made two long weekend trips and a 10-day sailing Caribbean trip over the past month or so and am digging this pack (Travel Backpack/45L/Coyote). My favorite surprise is the side zipper access. I unwittingly packed some slippers on both sides of the pack and when I arrived at my destination and needed them, I recalled where I packed them and was able to unzip sides and there they were. Nothing else needed to be touched!! I also love the stowaway shoulder straps with the magnetic flaps (my wife is jealous of them!). So easy and clean! The straps are also more comfortable than the Mother Lode. Also, the straps seldom twist when putting on - I'm guessing it's the axial attachment points. Haven't used the sternum strap or the waist belt other than to check them out; haven't needed to yet. This pack is slightly heavier than the Mother Lode but feels more comfortable on me. I loaded the pack with about 25lbs of stuff for both weekend trips so I could get a feel for what it'll be like for the longer trips. Including low-rise leather boots and some sport mocs and lots of layers of cloths. Also had a small laptop, chargers, etc. No problems! Haven't used the expansion or but did open the top snap expansion (not sure how I'll use this yet - shorter/warmer trips?). I really liked the compression straps on the Mother Lode and wanted that feature on my new pack but haven't missed not having them yet. Also looking forward to using the outside straps to all the attachment points - so far, I've only strapped a wide-brimmed hat to the outside which was nice. On this last trip, I figured out how to use the organization panel as it isn't very deep without using the expander zipper. I just put the next day's clothes in there - was going from 82° to 5°F so I wouldn't have to dig around (I switched from sandals to trail shoes - used those side zippers again!!). Also forgot that the inside panel can get stowed in a pocket at the bottom (I'm rewatching the 20 min video now that I've got experience with the pack). Love the sturdy bottom too, no more wondering if that is going to wear faster!! On that I kinda wish there was another zipper pocket on the front as I don't like opening the main zippers to access simple things but as I've started using a small across-chest bag for those things, I'm missing it less and less. Looks great, love the fabric and the color. And watch the video! One word: Lawrence.

So I love the bag however i don't like the fact that with my use case it breaks after a year or so. What do I mean by that? The backplate in which the backstrap hinges broke now on two backpacks. I Got a replacement on the first one and the second one suffered the same fate. I can still use it but i'm scared to pick it up by one strap because the hinge could fall out through the broken backplate. The backplate also breaks in the spots where it connects to the top handle. It's really frustrating. I don't want to waste peak designs resources but soon i'll probably have to return my current bag too. And it's not like i'm carrying 50 kilograms of tungsten in this bag. My usual setup is a mirrorless camera, 2 bigger Canon L lenses and a couple smaller ones, some tech like power banks and such. Probably less than 10 KG. Did I get super unlucky or did anyone else had this issue?. Check your backplate through the fabric above the hinge and feel if it's broken.

I bought the 35/45 travel backdrop for a trip to Europe. Previously when traveling, I used an Osprey that had several pockets, but it didn't seem like it carried a lot. I was looking for a "clam" style backpack to carry more on our trip. I spent quite a bit of time looking at all the name brand backpacks and after an extensive research, I landed on the DP 35/45 travel backpack. This backpack had all of the features that I was looking for. The designers of this product hit a home run with their design and all of the features. I like the fact that this can be collapsed or expanded depending on how much you are carrying. I really like that the shoulder straps can be tucked in when not needed. This was a very unique feature and none of the other backpacks that I was looking had this feature. They all had removable back straps or could not be removed at all. The anti-theft features also stood out for me. Even though this is a "claim" shell type of backpack, there are still enough compartments to hold the smaller items I am packing. I like that I have quick access to my iPad and headphones. I like that there are multiple ways to access the items in the backpack (side, front and back). I bought my wife a different brand backpack and after our trip, she is now wishing that I had bought the DP 35/45 L for her. The quality of the material is excellent and this should last a lifetime. I'm so glad that I bought this and can't wait to use it again. As this backup is so wonderfully made, I have created my own wish list of DP product that I would like to purchase in the future. While the cost of this backpack was more than I was originally looking to spend, I have come to realize that you get what you pay for and it is better to buy quality products and not cheap out and have issues with a lesser product.
