Almost perfect
This case is almost perfect, I have had the one for the iPhone 12 mini because I use on my motorcycle and with the wallet and tripod.
This version for the 16 pro has two major flaws imo:
- The magnet is less powerfull than the 12 mini version
- the one that drives me nuts is the fact that you cant plug most of the usb-c cable because of the bottow is thic for the strap that probably nobody use.
It is a bit of a shame because that is a well thought and built case. I hope my feedback will be heard because I would buy the reworked version.

Can't think of a single improvement
Love this case. I was using a competitors case and buttons had no click or feedback and camera button was difficult to use. That case also had to be trimmed or it would push the screen protector up. None of this issues with the Gnar case. This case is practically perfect. The gold buttons are a nice accent and they feel great. Camera button works well. The lip around the screen protrudes plenty enough to protect screen when placed face down on a flat surface. Also love the grip texture on the sides. And of course the mount is the best feeling of all cases. Easy to lock on and remove with one hand.

Nice case but has heat issues
Overall, I've been fairly happy with the case. It's rugged and I've dropped my phone many times with no issues. Others are complaining about the lip around the screen, but even with a tempered glass screen protector, I haven't had any issues. No breaks whatsoever.
My main and really only issue with the case is the wireless charging performance. It gets HOT in this case. I'm not sure exactly why, beyond acting like a physical insulator, but I suspect the problem is the thickness of the back, as well as the inability to sit fully flush on Magsafe chargers. The heat is just a by-product of inefficient charging.
I love Peak design stuff, but I'm hoping they can improve thermal performance and make the Yttrium ring sit more flush to the back plane.

The good, the bad, the evil
Almost perfect case with one minor and one major flaw?
The good:
- nice and grippy material (even though the camera protection and the colour insert looks slightly "cheap")
- those buttons (including camera control) are amazing
- the slim link system in combination with the far out bike mount
The bad:
- those "sharp" edges of the slim-link cutout ? WHY?? this still feels odd after weeks of use
The evil:
- no news but the screen protection is close to zero. I pray the screen protector works when eventually dropping the phone face first

Awesome aside from the speaker openings
I like everything about this case. Feels super solid and premium. Idk what people are on about with the raised edges. Actually like the low profile ridge on it as it makes it easy to clean. Usually the ridge can onto dust. I don't understand what surfaces people are laying their phones on that they need such a deep ridge.
Anyways, that brings me to my two gripes the speaker openings and the opening for clips in the back. Luckily one of my hobbies is 3D printing so I'll just print something to go in the big opening on the back. However that opening and the speaker openings just gather lint and dust like crazy. They cannot really be cleaned without completely removing the case. Like I said, I'll just print something to fill the back but wish the speaker openings were a bit better. However, I'll gladly take the usb c plug over anything. Probably my favorite feature and I've switched everything to MagSafe charging. The charging port has been the death of many of my electronics over the decades so it's nice that I don't need to worry about lint, dust, water, etc. getting into it.

Great. Made my phone explode
I bought this item about six or seven monts ago and 6 or 7 days. Whenever i turn off my phone the case starts heating up... my phone then proceeeded to EXPLODE... 5 stars

Good Grip, Bad Screen Protection
I bought this a couple months ago because I wanted to use it for mountain biking. I wanted a case that would protect my phone from falls on the trail. I got it out of the box and it's heavy and big for a case. I was willing to overlook both of those things if it protected my phone. Within the first week I dropped it from about pocket height and both times my screen protector broke. I took a closer look at the bumper protecting the front of the phone and the screen protector was flush with the bumper. Having a screen flush with the protector feels nice but doesn't help with protection. I've been really happy with Peak Design products and currently use other PD phone protectors, but this phone protector was not as advertised.

Don't be afraid
Was hesitant since the reviews are brutal for this product but I've been happy with this case. Feels solid, has protects my phone from some serious falls and the front lip issue isn't so for me. I don't have a screen protector, and it's been fine while running, hiking, etc.

No lip protection . No good
This is a great case but it misses the mark by not having enough lip around the screen and if you use screen protectors like most people do, good luck because you phone will be lying on the screen. For a company that call itself "PEAK "design this products is a design that fails to protect the aspect of the phone that literally needs the most protection. This case should be redesigned to account for the lack of screen protection yo be worth of the Peak design name.

Not Protective Enough for the Screen
I'm disappointed with this case. It doesn't provide adequate protection for the phone screen because the screen sits almost flush with the edge of the case. As a result, my screen protector has cracked in multiple spots - something that never happened with my previous cheap cover. I expected better protection from a more expensive case. Would not recommend if you're looking for solid screen safety.

Nice case with poor front screen protection
I do not usually leave reviews on products, but this is one time were I decided it was warranted. First, I am a big fan of peak design. I have used there Everyday case on my iPhone and really enjoy their day pack. I was excited when I saw this case, as I thought it would be a little more rugged then the Everyday case. To my surprise it is not even close to providing more protection. This case provides ZERO protection for the front screen. I am not sure how this was overlooked. The case has a giant forehead and chin, but there is not lip around the screen. It is even worse if you have a screen protector as it protrudes over the lip of the case. It will be the first thing to shatter if dropped face down. This could have been a decent case, but the lack of protection for the front screen makes it an extremely risky investment. No Magsafe Charging.
Wanted to love this case. Enjoy the button for the camera instead of a cut out a lot. The case does not work with magsafe charging. I thought it was me and so I went and got myself two different new magsafe chargers does not work with any of them. Wake up each morning to a dead phone.

Great case with great features.
I ordered this with the moto charging mount v2. So far the case is great. It feels good in the hand and while I would have elected for a little more lip for the screen even with my spigen glass protector the glass is still (barely) lifted from the surface when the phone is laid face down.
The protector for the usbc port in my case is very nice as I mostly charge my phone with MagSafe.
And I love that I can attach my lanyard. :-).
And YES so far it has worked perfectly with my Gen 1 MagSafe by the bed and gen two MagSafe in the car. I also love how easy it is to attach and detach from the moto mount. Sadly my moto mount was defective and thus I don't know about charging from it yet. I have opened a case for it to be replaced but am still awaiting a response.

Half case?
I really like the grip and shape of this case in the hand. It looks like it will protect the back of the phone well. However, this is supposed to be a protective case and with no lip around the screen it does nothing to protect the front of the phone. Laying it down on a flat surface my phone slides around on the screen glass.
The back half of this case is great but half of a protective case just doesn't cut. All PD needs to do is add a lip around the screen and this will be a winner. Right now it's a fail.

I bought the GNAR CASE for my iPhone 16 Pro, attracted by the design and advertised MagSafe compatibility. Sadly, wireless charging doesn't work at all-neither with two official Apple MagSafe chargers, nor even with Peak Design's own wireless charger.

Gonna be hard to break my phone
Just received my GNAR case for my 16 Pro. This is my 3rd or 4th case from Peak Design and As usual it beat my expectations. This is a robust case but without the bulk. I love the textured border and the functionality of the buttons. The design is excellent as I use this case for motorcycling, mountain biking and running. I know how well made these cases are. I once lost my phone while drinking 60 mph on the highway and the phone survived and still worked! I've been faithful to PD ever since.

Half Baked
Good grip, magsafe works well and the back and corners seem well protected. However for a rugged case it misses the mark in that there is basically no lip to protect the screen. I don't even feel comfortable laying it on a flat surface. It's like half of a rugged case and for that reason alone I'll be returning it. I hope Peak Design can address this glaring flaw. If they do this case would be my goto choice.

Poor fit, slippery
I've been a fan of the Mobile series since the original kickstarter so I was thrilled to try out this case. Unfortunately when inserting my phone the screen protector on it cracked. The screen itself is almost flush with the case edges, I hoped a rugged case would offer more protection. I don't feel comfortable using this for daily use.
The materials used are quite slippery compared to the original case and collects dust like crazy. It already accumulated dust and lint inside the packaging so it came out looking pretty dirty.
I tried to return the item but that would cost me almost half the price of the case, so I guess I'll keep it around but stick to the original style case.

Does exactly what it needs to.
Definitely a step up from the commuter case which unfortunately did not protect my phone in a short fall. Love that this is an easier to clean case as I'm often getting my hands dirty, and really like that they thought to protect the USB-C port. Do not bother putting a lens protector on your camera lens as it can protrude past this case and actually give you a new failure point to break your back glass. Be aware that not all cheap wireless chargers will work with this case, but 2 out of my 3 still work. Love that the case isn't tacky like the cheap silicone ones are, as those used to make me pull my pockets out of my pants every time I removed my phone. Overall a really well thought out case design without being overly bulky. Also looks pretty good. I have no issue with a screen protector on it either.

Good Grip with one Caveat
I'm loving this case so far; it has really good grip and not slippery like my other cases. I love the diamond grip on the sides and port cover. Definitely worth saying that this case is made for adventures! The only caveat, I love that the sides are flush to the screen but with a screen protector it's almost too much. My suggestion, maybe add a little height on the top and bottom so it floats the screen up a little when you place your phone face down which I tend to do a lot. Other than that, great case! Easy in and out of my pocket.
