Purchased as a luxury item and am very happy: love the quality, modularity, and especially the rolling ease (I knew this was a feature but was surprised by how much I liked it). Big fan of the brand and that continues after this buy!

The only improvements I can think of are if it had more expansion and if the handle had more positions

I backed this on Kickstarter after reading how thorough the deign of this bag was. I never considered that my complaint would be with something as important as the zipper on the lid. I just assumed that that would be a robust, good size item. Sadly, it is not even close. If you see the picture of the zipper failing elsewhere among the reviews, it is exactly what happened to me, even in the same place. My ThinkTank bag has a much larger zipper that I know will hold up indefinitely. There is no way I would take this bag on an extended trip of any kind or any distance. I'd be afraid of it coming open at an inopportune moment or, God forbid in the baggage compartment should IO have to check it because of its weight or size, two other things that should NOT be a problem on a bag so thorough; designed. The rest of the bag is pretty well designed although the uneven locations for the holders that keep the lid from opening all the way flat are also a stupid error. My advice, wait for version 2, but look carefully before buying.

After reading all the things they did right with this bag, I bought one to find out that they went cheap on one of the most important parts on the entire. Bag: The zipper that closes the main compartment. It is totally inadequate for its function. What would it have cost to put in a beefier zipper? Mine started jamming and sticking almost right away. Let's face it, that is probably the most important piece of the entire package. Now, it also comes apart in the middle when its closed. How can I trust this bag on a trip where I can't switch to something else. I could put up with a lot of other things being ub-par on this bag, but this one is too important. It jusr defies belief that they could go cheap on this part.\!

Incredibly well thought out, do-it-all design. I've used this for both clothes and camera gear and it excels at both. However! There are two issues that I'm sure they'll address in the next version. First, the hinge squeaking. Incredibly annoying and started squeaking on a shoot where I had to open and close the bag a lot. Customer service did walk me through how to lube it and it's fine now. The second is a HUGE problem: the bag rolls away on its own. Getting out at the airport terminal, I put it up on the curb to hug someone goodbye and I caught it right before it rolled off. A bag full of camera gear hitting the ground like that with heavy airport traffic would have been awful. Another time I was doing a shoot where I needed to wheel around extra lenses, batteries etc. The bag just started rolling away on what looked like a completely flat surface. Had to constantly keep an eye on it or lay it flat which isn't great when you're trying to move around a large space quickly. I've had to switch back to the old pelican protector for those types of shoots. PD, I know you'll fix the hinge problem, but PLEASE engineer a wheel lock that can be engaged in the handle for V2. Thank you!

Seeing the reviews on YouTube didn't really do the roller justice. It's really well designed and built. I travel a lot, and the design of this roller makes a far more useful travel companion. Materials are great, and the wheels almost need a locking mechanism if your floor isn't flat it will roll away?. Handle is very well made and thin is the way to go - so smart

I have the black and the eclipse colors of this bag. After watching many reviews online, I decided on Peak Design because it seemed like the highest quality and tech forward + stylish option, and it did not disappoint. The Eclipse colors is especially beautiful. The bag has the smoothest wheels I've encountered, the draw bridge opening is unique, and I'm 100% pleased with this choice. 10/10

I bought the Roller Pro in black 4 days before a 12 day trip to Japan. I was hesitant on the price, even on sale, but I am glad I purchased it. The way the top opens to access everything was a life saver in the small hotel rooms and traveling with my wife and daughter. I was able to access everything anytime with ease, unlike a typical clam shell style carry on. This will be my go to carry on moving forward. It rolls easy and smooth. My only complaint is I wish the extension handle was a little taller. It is a little low when using electric stairs. Only time will tell on the durability. Highly recommend it.

Fits all my usual travel fare a little better, I like the top pocket for things like a power bank and the segmented lid pockets are much more convenient than everything sliding and colliding in one huge pocket in any other rollers I've had. The outer dimensions have me worried for an international trip I have on the horizon.

Absolute 10/10. No notes. Love this bag. Smooth rolling, spacious, easy to access, cute, and functional. Arguably the best investment I've ever made for travel.

I originally bought this on Kickstarter and I was pretty happy with it however the expansion zipper broke off. I'm not even sure where it happened it was just gone one day. Don't load the bag to full Because the zippers would separate. Pink design did however send me a replacement bag due to the missing experiential zipper the process was a little involved I had to send them a video I suppose that was the proof I was a real person and it was a real problem. But after that a ship arrived very quickly and I am pleased that design has a lifetime warranty on their products.

I wanted to love this bag - and many aspects of it are truly great - but several issues combined into a "deal-breaker" for me, sadly resulting in my first-ever PD return. (And I have many, many other PD products that I love!) Anyway, first: the laptop compartment does NOT function as intended with either my 15" LG gram laptop nor my 16" portable monitor; yes, they fit into the main slot, but the whole mag-thing at the top just turns into an awkward, convoluted contraption that does nothing to prevent accidental drops nor quick in/out access. Also, having either item in the bag makes the top/front compartment VERY tough to access. Second: the "precision-tuned friction hinges" neither provide any friction, nor any "tuning" ability whatsoever. Basically, those hinges do nothing at all, as far as I can tell. I thought mine were simply defective at first, but talking to support about it yielded no relief, and I now have to agree with another reviewer who removed them and called them "heavy" and "pointless". Third: while it's great to have grab-handles on all four sides of the bag, the top one - arguably the most important and frequently-used - is much too tight to be functional, even bare-handed. (Forget about it with any kind of gloves on!!) Unless you have very slender hands and NEVER travel in cold weather, that's just no good, in my humble opinion.... As for positives: the wheels and the telescoping handle are fantastic, I like the interior cord/snap stuff and liner, and the bag looks great. In the end, though, that's not enough for me to justify replacing my current carry-on roller, especially at such a steep price-point. Here's hoping for a v2 of this bag that eventually ticks all the boxes....

I purchased this bag a few weeks ago and took it straight into the action. I used it for a photoshoot and although I didn't use the camera cube insert I still used it to carry my 200mm-400mm F4 Cannon Lens because I needed something reliable. I also used it as my carry on bag which was great. Held my laptop and other nonsense perfectly! I was on the shoot for a week and moved the bag in and out of cars multiple times a day. A few things on my wish list for the bag... The small section where the laptop goes I wish it had 2 sippers so I could zip it in the middle for quick access when my bag is in the overhead compartment and I need to grab my laptop. The nonesense pouch above the laptop sleeve is a little shallow, I had airpods, wallet, GoPro and a small cable and the pouch was maxed out. Lastly the wheels roll soo smooth that it actually makes it hard to stay in one place, I found it trying to roll away from me, not sure how you would ever solve that problem but maybe a project for next time.

This case feels high-quality, unique, and very well designed. From my experience with Peak Design products, I know that I'll enjoy using it next week on it's first trip. I also have great trust in the brand and their great support, customer service, and warranty program.

I bought one of these through Kickstarter and another from the NYC store. They are the best! I've dragged them through Kenya, Jordan, Rwanda, Egypt, Spain, Portugal, Toronto, Dubai, Frankfurt, Naples? you name it? it works like a charm. Super design, great easy access, practical bulletproof. It works great for camera gear and just everyday travel. Has so far fit every airline's sizer, rolls like mad on every surface. I've had to check one of the bags because of "one bag limit" and I've also had one stacked with about 20 other bags and the came through unscathed. I can't even tell from the outside which one travelled in the hold and conveyer belt drama. This is an outstanding piece of kit. I travel with it everywhere. The design team did miss a thing! One caution: the wheels are so frictionless, the bag can roll away on the slightest incline. On on the rare moving sidewalk with incline (Lisbon airport for example) the bag wants to roll down on you. I've discovered that you just use your foot to keep it a safe distance uphill. I've had Tumi's, Rimowa's, Hartman's? the works. This is the best built, most functional bag ever. And the big bonus: because it looks more or less like a black canvas blob, I don't think anyone will try to steal it.

I bought this about a month ago and have had the chance to travel with it for work three times now, both internationally and domestic. I'm a very frequent traveler, was pretty tired of dragging awful wheels to a hotel then opening up my suitcase folder style on the floor. This is designed so well. I find I can fit just as much from a total carry capacity, the wheels are INCREDIBLE, rolling well over cobblestones, NYC streets, airports you name it. I also greatly appreciate the sneaky storage for things like my wallet, portable power bank, or passport holder. Possibly my favorite feature as I can dump things in there as I go through security and customs, and they are much easier to get to even when compared to grabbing from a pocket in a backpack. Don't need to take the pack off, they are just all right there. It's also clearly very well made, which I appreciate. I was a bit hesitant to pull the trigger, but very glad I did. As someone who travels way too often for work, the little things really make a difference. Such an awesome add to my travel collection. Highly recommend

A carry-on is such a big part of your travel experience, and the Roller Pro Carry-On really makes a big impact. Carrying it around it so much easier with the strong handle and super smooth wheels, and packing and unpacking is also so easy with the single compartment and drawbridge. It's so great that my wife and I got another one so we can each travel with one.

I originally signed up for this early on because I genuinely liked the concept and trusted the Peak Design brand. I later canceled because the price felt difficult to justify, but eventually received an offer and decided to give it a try anyway. The build quality is excellent. The materials feel premium, the wheels are smooth, and the bag definitely feels durable and thoughtfully engineered. That said, after traveling with it more, I realized it simply wasn't the right fit for my style of travel. The biggest issue for me is weight. On paper it may not seem dramatically heavier than competing bags, but in real-world use it becomes noticeable quickly, especially once camera gear, laptops, batteries, chargers, and other travel tech are added. I also think the bag became a little too engineered for its own good. I found myself wishing it worked more naturally as "just a really great carry-on bag" without needing to think so much about systems, accessories, or specialized organization. I already use a small camera cube, so I eventually realized I preferred lighter and simpler luggage overall. The zipper/access design also felt more complicated than necessary for everyday travel use. One disappointment was the rollout experience. As an early supporter, I was given estimated timing that came and went, only to later see the bag appearing in retail stores before mine had arrived. Even though early supporters received better pricing, it still made the preorder experience feel less special than expected. Overall, I still think this is a very high-quality product and I respect the amount of thought that went into it. I think future versions could really benefit from: * reduced weight * simpler access/layout * a more travel-first approach * and making the core bag experience shine even without additional accessories I can absolutely see this working well for photographers carrying larger production setups. For my own workflow, I eventually realized I value lighter, simpler, more traditional travel gear.

The design of this bag is a dream come true with the clam shell opening. The wheels are outstanding making traversing airports very easy, though one must be mindful the bag may roll away from you because the rollers are too good! The reason I'm giving it a 4* is 1) there's not a 4.5 option, 2) it's on the smaller side so packing for a week or longer trip can be challenging 3) the expanding option needs work: you can unzip to expand the space but the space collapses so it's awkward to have to pull up on the bag to get it expanded and bag closed when using the expansion option for longer trips. Despite these small setbacks, it remains my go to bag for shorter trips. I would love to see a 23" carry on option for those longer domestic trips.

Roller Pro is a thoughtful, well-designed travel bag with practical touches that stand out. The roller system performs smoothly and handles well through airports and city streets. One thing I would love to see in a future version is wheel brakes or a locking mechanism-especially useful on public transit or uneven surfaces where the bag can slide around unexpectedly. The flexibility in packing is excellent, making it easy to adapt for different types of trips or photography gear setups. The magnetic pockets and organizational features are thought out and feel intentional rather than gimmicky. Overall, Peak Design paid attention to usability, materials, and travel workflow.

Have been using the case, and it suits almost all my needs. EXCEPT ONE: an outside stretch pocket for a water bottle is really missing. I would also settle for a clic-on solution, but carrying a water bottle in my hands while walking across an airport in the south really sucks

I travel regularly for work. Bought a nice hard shell carryon and it only lasted 1.5 years before the zipper broke and they couldn't repair. After that broke I bought be Peak Roller Pro carryon and love this thing. The clamshell fits so much more that typical bags. The attention to quality is evident in every detail and it looks great too. Love this thing and love the confidence in the warranty too!

I spent days trying to convince myself not to get this bag. I was looking for a bag that had good volume, was global carry on compatible, and would likely last me for years. I could not find anything that compared to this bag. I bought one and promptly had to buy another one for my spouse. The bag is incredible! When it rolls it's smooth as butter. The rails are so thin however it doesn't eliminate intrusion inside. I like the clamshell like opening with such a small footprint. The verticals storage slots are really efficient for storage of small items that may get tangled or lost. The laptop storage slot is not as strong as I'd like but will easily store the laptop if I'm gentle with the bag. Other companies have similar features but in my research and now having this bag I feel like PD does it better! Expensive but I really love having this bag.

Meet the next leap in luggage. Roller Pro Carry-On is a 4-wheeled travel roller in a class of it's own, built differently from the ground up to hold more, drive better, protect better, and look better. In a world of look-alike rollers made from stock components, we went where other bag makers wouldn't go-pushing the practical limits of manufacturing to set a new standard for roller quality, utility, and aesthetic.
It starts with the innovative SlimDrive trolley handle, built from rigid, flat, and lightweight carbon fiber. SlimDrive eliminates wasted space inside the bag while also eliminating the bending/twisting that occurs in traditional 3-section aluminum handles. It's a driving experience lightyears ahead of other rollers. Roller Pro's hybrid construction (polycarbonate internal shell + Versa Shell outer fabric) offers hard-sided protection with the organizational flexibility of soft-sided luggage-a combination you'll find nowhere else. Same goes for the unique drawbridge opening, which gives you total access while taking up half the footprint of the traditional clamshell design. Pack and unpack in tighter spaces, and visualize your stuff in a more compact format. An exterior EDC pocket allowes quick stowage/access for items like passports, glasses, and headphones in the security line and in-flight, and a protected laptop sleeve magnetically seals on its own to prevent accidental spillage. An external Cord Hook carry system allows you to lash items to the outside of the bag, giving you that critical extra hand when dashing through the terminal. Inside, a Cord Hook retention system keeps stuff secured faster and more elegantly than traditional compression straps. Brilliant details are everywhere: weatherproof UltraZips that all lock together, a laser-cut Hypalon ID tag, padded grab handles, and secret AirTag and stash pockets.
And for photographers, meet your new mobile studio. Designed to perfectly fit the new Peak Design XL Camera Cube, Roller Pro provides endlessly customizable storage, access, and protection for a full professional camera kit, along with vertical space for organization of SD cards, batteries, and other small items. Whether you're in transit, in the field, or in the studio, Roller Pro is the ultimate assistant.
