This is a great kit. It is a breeze to set up and puts out great light. Great starter kit!

This is my first set of studio lights, and I am very happy with the quality, ease of setup and use. I shoot mostly pets and have recently ventured into the studio setting, but was impressed with how easy these lights were to setup and move. Included everything you could ask for, except a case of course. Would recommend them and buy them again.

This kit is very well built, lightweight but strong and sturdy. Good for back lights, but unfortunately not powerful enough to be used alone for portrait photography. I am not a professional by any means but I found them not very useful for beginners, mainly because the weak results will disappoint a new entry photographer. This is not to say that they are useless. The “weakest link” is the bulb. If you’ll find a way to replace it, then you did not completely waste your money. I will not recommend this to a friend, but if you bought it you will find a way to make it useful and with a proper replacement for bulb you might be surprised.

The starter light kit is all that it was advertised as, but I wish I would have saved my money and bought a brighter light set. I will be able to use these for back lights etc but not enought power to use just these for portrait photography. They are very sturdy and are a very bright light but not bright enough for what I want to use them for.

I really like the lights and it's not hard on your pocketbook. Went to a local pro's shop and they said I needed to spend at least a [$]. Wrong! This did the trick.

With the low 250W power it isn't meant for much more than portrait shooting. If that is what you are looking for this is a good product.

Very well made and good product, but low wattage output.

Works just fine. I added two dimmer plugs to regulate the output. Yes it can affect the color temp but it's nothing you can't handle when shooting raw mode.

I like the simplicity of the system and enjoyed the tutorial offered on the website. I was a little disappointed with the original bulbs which were easily damaged during shipment and transport. However, overall, this is a great beginners light kit and it works great even in limited spaces. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends!

I love how they can light a white backdrop to make a high key portrait. i use them in conjunction with a softbox behind the photographer for a great high key effect.

I am a beginner and was looking for a basic setup for doing my own portraits. This setup seems to do the trick. The price was good and the quality of the product is better then I expected.

First Studio Portrait Kit...
Designed for basic portrait photography, the First Studio Portrait Kit includes two 8-inch-diameter FirstStar reflector lights, two 250-watt tungsten lamps, two of the Photoflex LS-2205 LiteStands, and two Photoflex 43 inch diameter silver umbrellas.
The Photoflex umbrella has a black exterior and a high efficiency silver interior for maximum light output. This is the most light-efficient umbrella in the world. Its industry-leading, double-laminated interior limits light leaks and thus cuts power costs and shooting time.
Compact and portable, the LiteStand comes in four sections. It sets up quickly, and the aluminum tubing extends to a maximum of 7 feet, 4 inches.
The First Studio product line is highlighted by the new FirstStar, an 8-inch-diameter, parabolic-shaped reflector light available in kits to meet the specific needs of portrait and product photographers.
By entering this rapidly growing segment of the photographic lighting market, Photoflex intends to serve budget-conscious photographers who also want the traditional Photoflex quality and reliability superior to that of competitors.
