My first big modifier and it served me well. With the ring for insertion of stay rods it can take a few minutes to set up, but always worked. Since then I moved onto larger octagonal modifiers that open like umbrellas which I like much more.

Not a simple light box. I use with and without the available grid. Easy to disassemble the tension rods from the corners.

I've had this soft box a few weeks and its a already showing signs of wear. The inside is peeling in spots where folded for storage. The box works as expected but i don't think it will last a long time.

I have wanted a softbox for years. Being a hobbyist on a budget I have Novatron lights which work very well for me, but are rather limited when it comes to softboxes. I purchased the adapter Photoflex makes as soon as I seen Adorama had it in stock again and the Medium LiteDome, both on sale! So much better than an white umbrella. It's a little tricky to assemble and disassemble, but having never used one before I believe it will get easier. Materials and construction are very nice as well. A great softbox!

I use this almost exclusively on location, generating a 30-40% flash, this softbox gives great light on the subject, illuminating the correct areas without that flashy look. Like all softboxes it can be a challenge in winds over 12 mph.

Used for portraits and shooting artworks. Nice big soft light for both purposes. Pretty easy to assemble, but takes a bit of wrestling. I bought mine used from Adorama and it was clearly used: logo worn, stitching stretched, rod bent. Take the ratings (this was rated excellent) with a grain or more of seasoning. I'm happy with the product itself.

This is my first softbox and I must say that after reading various articles, literature and reviews on all types/sizes/manufacturers of softboxes, I decided that this was the unit I thought I needed! The 4 corner velcro that lets the rods extend through the front so that the speedring can be installed makes it easy to assemble & disassemble! The quality of soft light that this unit supplies is simply gorgeous! I will be getting at least one more of these in the future, along with an Octodome(5' or 7') that I am sure will be from Photoflex, thinking that the velcro corners ease in assembly process, makes this a "no brainer"!

I have used the large softbox for fine art/nude photography indoors for 4 years now. I love the quality of the light. Disassembly is sometimes difficult because the speedring fits the support rods so tightly. Also because the speed ring doesn't fit the bag I eventually lost my original speedring and had to buy a knock-off (consequently tear down got easier). About to buy a medium one.

For the price, these softboxes are worth every penny. I am particularly pleased with how well work with the Photoflex Star Lights (500 W) Hotlight*. They were used continuously for several hours at a time while lighting a still image photo shoot and have yet to yellow or show signs of overheating the interior or exterior material, including baffles. Easy to assemble and disassemble and pack very well into their bags. *Kept top and side vents on rear open.

This is my second time using this product. Sold the first one when I closed my studio and moved to location and rental space. Looking back at the photos I took with the old unit, the quality of light with this softbox vs. any other system was amazing. Decided to put up with the hassle of setting it up all the time and am not sorry. Great light all the time, sturdy and secure in the field. Sure other softboxes are very good, but this unit has taken a lot of great pictures for me (and made me a lot of money). Old and new boxes were used with White Lightning 600 w/s flashes.

I use these to shot small product and sometimes portraits and they work well. The light is not as soft as I would have liked but there are ways to diffuse the light better.

These excellent quality, large softboxes are a great value. The construction is solid and they fold down very compactly for easy transport. I have no complaints. I look forward to buying more Photoflex light modifiers in the near future, including a set of Halfdomes.

This softbox is well built and super easy to assemble, didn't even reference the included instructions. Paired this softbox up with the Flashpoint II speedring and both work fine with each other.

Simply put, my Photoflex 36" X 48" lays out the most constant, even light on all my subjects matter, all the time. Whether it's portraiture, studio still product shots or food shots, I'm always confident of the soft light it produces. It's easy to use, rugged and durable. It just doesn't get any better than this, especially when setting it up or break it down...

Though photoflex may be more expensive than other brands, the build quality is well worth the cost. This is an excellent build. I am not happy with how the poles insert into the softbox connector. The tolerances are very close, which makes it difficult when taking apart. Putting together is a breeze, but you'll have to fuss with it to break it down. I purchased this wondering if I would also want the large softbox or the 5 foot octodome. I would like to get the octodome for the additional options it comes with and size. Still, for the immediate purpose, I am using two of these for school portraits, and they work well. The size is not too big, and the light diffusion in close quarters with baffel and diffuser is fine. Others comment on them being almost too big. I do not feel that is the case. If anything, I almost wish I had purchased one medium and one large.
