Shopper : I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one? I would like to use it for portrait work. To use it like a large window light. Also as a high key background. Is it really 7 feet in diameter?KIM H : Hi, I bought this Octodome last year after attending a portrait workshop. I love the soft natural light it creates and the fact that its big enough to be a high-key background. You do need high ceilings as it is 7' in diameter! You need a heavy duty light stand with wheels to easily move it around. I would also make sure your strobes can support it. Last, I had to have a second pair of hands to help me set it up. I love it though and would buy it again!REBECCA B : Its huge. Perfect for a high key backlight. Biggest softbox Ive ever seen. Ive been using it for about a month and I love the soft light it gives. Best softbox for the price.M. T : Hi there, Yes this Octabox is really 7 ft in diameter. I bought 2 and really enjoy the effects you can do with it. There are silver and gold panels that Velcro on the inside walls. I some times use these panels in mixed configuration (gold and silver every other panel) and by taking off the front diffusion panel it creates a high key look on the subject. No connector?!

Not happy that it doesn't come with the connector, nor did it say you would need one. Now I need to find one, and have that shipped so i can even put it on my light.

7' OctoDome

Because of its size, first time set up is a bit of a challenge. Well balanced and easy to attach, in spite of the size. Quick release ends help over come the learning curve and makes easy work during knock down after session. Thickened center on the baffle creates very even light over large area. Works well with full lenght or group photos.

Photoflex OctoDome Softbank 7' Review

The product itself, when used with a sufficiently powered strobe, produces a beautifully even light. I've used this with great results for individuals, as well as groups up to 5. My only "complaint" about it is the assembly of the dome; it is not the easiest thing to do and wish there was a design that made it easier.
