Shopper : Can this unit be triggered using pocket wizards? (ie, one wizard on monolight one on camera?) or is it only optical via IR of flash? if so how sensitive is it? will it be triggered by other flashes, say at a wedding reception? any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks.CHARLES J : I use the TT5 and mini pocket wizard and it works fine but it won't work with the new PW3
DAVID P : Do you recommeded the Photoflex StarFlash 300WS Strobe to be used as a separation light (headlight)?WILLIAM H : Yes you could. I use it as a head light occasionally with a snoot attachment. I only use a 2 light set up. My main light being the StarFlash 650 WS mono strobe with a medium soft box. I also use the 300 as if it were a 3rd light, on a back light stand. You can put a cold light bulb in it where you would put the modeling lamp and change the temperature of the scene, adding cool effects to your portraits. Good luck David, by B. I have shot as many as 32 people is a group portrait and the lighting is very good. I feel a third light would overcome a limitation (not able to shoot both sides of the model without getting shadows). I feel you will enjoy your investment. Bill McDadeSTEPHEN R : I use the 300WS Mono Strobe for a variety of tasks including hair highlights, back lighting, product shots, and other lighting needs where I don't want to overpower the scene yet need a controlled light close in. Quality light. You can't go wrong.

Great light. I have two three hundreds and one six-fifty. I have other brands also. For three years two have been absolutely flawless. One had an unusual problem after the waranty expired and Photoflex sent me a new one for a very, very reasonable charge. Not one missfire ever on any of them. No problems since. Controls are solid. Very strong bracket that solidly holds large softboxes. Photoflex has excelent tech support and great,great customer service. I was seriously impressed.

It works GREAT!

Here is a bit of info I have not yet seen specifically anywhere. The 'optical slave sensor' is not only tripped by another flash unit (any brand), but it is also tripped by any infrared trigger source. I have a Wein Sync-Link for my Canon A-1 camera, and a Canon ST-E2 dedicated transmitter for EOS cameras, and BOTH will trip the sensor/trigger. I love it! This Starflash is a great addition to my lighting arsenal, and I plan to get another one soon.

I have a Wein Sync-Link for my Canon A-1 camera, and a Canon ST-E2 dedicated transmitter for EOS cameras, and BOTH will trip the sensor/trigger. I love it!
