Maura M : What kind of light is included? I can't seem to find details - is it better than this light >> <a href="http://www.adorama.com/PFSQ.html" target="_blank">http://www.adorama.com/PFSQ.html</a> (Starlite QL FVBSL3200) ?? Trying to figure out what's going to work better for a professional studio system.
Rowland M : how can you to dim a 500 watt StarLite® lamp without color temp being too warm?Peter R : I can think of several ways to accomplish this. 1) Install the Silverdome interior baffle, which will cut the light considerably, and only warm it up a little. This might not work with a 1000w bulb as the Silverdome may get too hot. 2) Hang a sheet of Rosco Tough Spun Glass in front of the softbox. It comes in various densities and will hardly warm up the light. 3) User a lamp dimmer and color correct the extra warmth by placing a Rosco color correction filter sheet (CTB) in front of lamp, or inside the softbox if you make clips for them. These filter sheets come in various values of blue (Prod. #3202 thru #3216), and are specifically for balancing color. 4) And, of course, moving the light away from the subject will decrease the intensity as the square of the distance, without affecting color at all.
