Poor Impementation

While I love HUE overall, the motions sensor is one product that is a waste of money. There is a fatal flaw in how it works that makes it almost useless. This flaw could be easily fixed with a software update and I hope it comes soon. The fatal flaw is that there is not a setting that if the lights are on and there is motion to do nothing; leave the lights on as they are. You are forced to pick a setting. It can be full on, dimmed, night light, but it can’t be do nothing. So how is this bad? Say want the lights to come on when you enter the room. That part is helpful for a motion sensor. Do you want them to come on high, or come on dimmed? You can select that and that is good too. But what if you’re in the room and the lights are on? You might like the lights to remain as they are. You can’t do that. Now say I start watching a move and like the lights dimmed. IF my setting for the motion sensor is dimmed, I’m OK. But if my setting is bright, then when I move from my chair the light go on high. I don’t want that. Or, say this. I pick the default setting on keep the lights dimmed and say I have friends over for a party. Now, once someone moves the lights go dim. Just leave the lights where they are currently set. Can’t do that. There needs to be a setting that if the lights are on, and there is motion, to leave the lights as they currently are set. That option is not available and it is annoying beyond belief. Because of this I cannot recommend the motions sensor. Why two stars? Well it works. Can’t totally trash it. But it really is useless as it works now.

About Philips Hue Sensor Detector

Trigger your smart lights with movement with the Hue motion sensor. The battery-powered sensor can be placed anywhere inside your home with hassle-free installation.

Trigger smart lights with motion sensors
Add a Philips Hue motion sensor to your smart lighting system to automatically switch your lights on when movement is detected, helping you navigate safely through your home.

Mount the motion sensor anywhere
The motion sensor for Philips Hue smart lights is battery powered and completely wireless, allowing you to install anywhere inside your home. Place it on a shelf, mount it to a wall or ceiling with a single screw, or place it on any magnetic surface with the included magnet.

Customize motion sensor lights
With the Hue smart motion sensor, you can customize the lights that come on and their intensity depending on the time of day. During the evening, set the motion sensor to trigger gentle night lights to guide you in the dark. During the day, trigger crisp white light to flood your halls.

Daylight sensor detects light
The Hue Motion sensor's integrated daylight sensor detects when there is still enough daylight so that lights do not turn on until you need them. If it's still too dark, adjust the light sensitivity of the sensor in the Philips Hue app to personalize when you'd like the motion sensor to activate.

Requires a Philips Hue Bridge
This product requires a connection to the Hue Bridge (not included).
