Aaron C : Can the top be "opened" to facilitate clamping a speedlight with magmod attached?Xavion T : Yes, but I would not advise that because of how much work it takes relative to just taking off the Mac mod rubber band. There are tension adjustment screws which if unscrewed would release the clamp all together from your flash unit. So in theory you could unscrew it all the way in order to fit the clamp around your flash with a mag mod. However, a better idea would be to leave the clamp on permanently and Attach a plate for a quick mounting on any tripod or light stand with the proper head. I use the Manfrotto RC2 quick release plate’s, not the Arca Swiss style. After a quick trip to the hardware store I picked up some hex screws that help to permanently attach the RC2 plates to the bottom of these clamps. I’m very happy with my set up. I no longer fear breaking the hotshoe on the bottom of my flash units. By using small ball heads I also have more control over the positioning of my flash units. I’m very happy with my set up. I was also able to have someone custom manufacture acrylic gel holders that can be used even while this clamp is on the flash.
