Beautiful Monitor except one performance issue

My computer monitor BDM4350UC randomly goes black for 4-5 seconds several times a day then works fine. This is extremely annoying. Also, it really needs a remote for volume control and input selection. That little joystick on the back of the unit is very hard to get to and clumsy. I am not sure if I can purchase one or not.

2 years old and not working

Bought it for our son and now it shows a blue screen and keeps shutting off. Very disappointed for the value of the product. Took a chance buying a Phillips but give every company the benefit so now stuck in isolation with a teen using a tiny little monitor to stay alive and entertained. Depending on how the company responds to the issue I would say stick to the cheaper models if 2 years is the life of the big dogs!

Great Monitor

While their documentation is at best, horrid, the monitor more than makes up for it. The setup is a bit kluggy as well but with some work you can get it to work the way you want.

unreliable

Product became dim in areas and completely broke after 3 yrs, will only turn on for half a second. Service is a big factor in the purchase, since it is a 4yr warranty, but I cannot get any help with the issues. Much better products out there now, for 1/3 the price.

Very Nice Display with Some Fatal Flaws

I really wanted to love this Display. There is so much to like. It has a big beautiful panel, all of the right inputs (HDMI,DP,VGA) and a nice built in USB 3.0 hub. The huge problem is that for all of the good things that are a part of this package, the designers threw it all away when they locked you in to only a few modes for PIP/PBP. I'm not sure who thought that only one 2 screen and one 3 screen mode configuration were sufficient and that it was ok to just black mask windows rather than scaling them when sources don't quite conform... You really with a display like this need to have the option to have both portrait and landscape configurations of each source for both the dual and 3 screen formats. Obviously the quad screen is what it is. I don't think that the designers quite realize that many folks would want to use it in a mode other than single screen or quad screen... I ended up sending this one back and buying a display from another manufacturer that would allow me to have a widescreen display across the top half and two smaller quadrants across the bottom, or a portrait display on the left and two landscape quadrants on the right... This display just had no flexibility of setup. So sad because I really liked the overall package...

Great monitor - some ease of use issues, but great overall

I completely agree with KingCrimson's review. He is correct that for the "2 monitor mode", portrait views would be ideal. I had expected this and was disappointed this was not the case. I spend a lot of time comparing and writing documents and this would make my life easier. There are workarounds, of course. Otherwise this is a great monitor.

Really like this computer monitor, every thing is crisp and clear.

This monitor is really nice. I can now see the writing without having to squeeze my eyes. It has enough real estate so that I can put all my cad icons on screen so I don't have to click on menus as much. Using tool icons helps to avoid clicking more than you have too saving from getting injured with carpal tunnel.

Nice fo Gaming

I purchased this monitor Dec. 24th. 2017. I’m having problems getting the monitor to properly display menus of most applications like, Norton Utilities, Asus GPU Tweak, HP Deskjet 2540 series, Corel WordPerfect 12 and Tom Tom My Drive G.P.S.. I’ve updated my Jave and Adobe. I presently have the monitor set to 3840 X 2160, 60 Hz. My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1. Is there an update or a setting I can use to fix this problem?

Hey everyone It's too bad because this is a nice monitor to own... BUT it won't last you a very long time! I've purchased it for less then a year and already having problems... It comes with a 4 year warranty...great right?!!....WRONG!!! first they make you pay for shipping when returning (sent out for screen repairs),..the tech guy ..which by the way is subed-out! is probably 9 year old.. because they found notthing wrong and sent it back... in the end dont buy this product it will not last you long VERY BAD EXPERIENCE

All kind of problem with this monitor

random windows updates will mess this monitor up, and the monitor will not turn on for whatever reason.. installing other games will do the same, and now I am stuck with having low resolution for whatever reason. Too much headache day in day out with this monitor, not worth the hassel

A great monitor in more sense than one.

I have previously had Phillips' 40 VA variant for a couple of years before this. They are both great and quite similar, and offers great value for money. Both IPS and VA have there technical benefits and issues. VA have better blacks, IPS have less colour distortion viewed from an angle. So what is preferable is a matter of usage pattern. I use mine primarily for multi windows and less for imaging, so the slightly 'grey' version of black of IPS is not an issue to me, but ease of read of text even in corners is (hence the upgrade). I'm quite picky on flickering, and this one is flicker free. A QFHD monitor this size is PERFECT for stuff like Lync, where someone can share their FHD/QHD desktop, and you still got space for the videos. I also often use it with four different about FHD size windows side by side. When you place it on the desk the first time, it feels humongous, but after a few days I loved it. Of course it is also great for watching images or videos, but that almost go without saying. I recommend dismounting the protruding thing below the frame (two screws), this improves the design a LOT!! And as the LED can't be turned off, you might want to cover it with a sticker or use a black marker to dim it.

BDM4350UC Monitor - Request for improvements .

BDM4350UC Monitor This is request for some small improvements that can have great effect on user experience . 1- Support for PIP/PBP from smart control software or other application . this is a MUST . 2- Ability to disable the 1 bit black line between windows in PBP mode . When I use 1 PC with multi screen I would like to have one smooth picture cross wide . with no line in the middle . 3- Ability to disable automatic screen feed change in PBP mode . when main input is off , screen may choose other input that has working feed , not always desirable . 4-In PBP 2 windows would like to have 2 higher windows like 1920X1200 or even 1920X1400 windows keep compress to 1920X1080 5- In PBP 2 windows would like to have 2 "rotated" windows of 2160 X 1920 ( or other resolution ) Like many physical screens support 90DEG rotation . All my suggestions are software only I believe within Philips capabilities . with small effort . Thanks Eran

Big monitor but less than a year later, unusable

I bought this monitor in June 2016 and within a month or so started having problems. Screen stars flickering/shaking and can sometimes see the refresh taking place. I figured it was a driver problem and updated the drivers for my Geoforce GTX980 video card. Also changed monitor driver to Win8, then win7, then win10. Problem has just gotten worse. I mostly work in text either writing academic papers or program code. I like having all that real estate to keep different windows open. Unfortunately, it has gotten so bad that I can't even see what I am doing half the time. Thought there might be electrical interference but none I can find. My secodnary 24 inch monitor has zero issues which I would not expect if there was an environmental impact to the system. Tried tightening connections and using the supplied software to change various settings to no avail. The manual for this thing is not even accurate. I think they took a manual for a different monitor and just changed a few references. The description of the monitor is incorrect (eg.. there are no buttons other than a power button. No OSD buttons to push). Other drivers and their Smartcontrol software, there is nothing else on the site to help. There is an option to call support but it is only good 9-5 and it seems always closed by the time I can call. I sent an email but hold little hope for a response. So, the manual is useless, the monitor is useless, and their online support is useless. I would stay away from this monitor. Most likely this one will be used for target practice at the range in a few weeks.

Unbelievable Display

Just bought one of these and have to say, wow! Excellent resolution, lots of input options, customizaability and slim form factor for a gigantic monitor. It almost feels too big, but I'm hoping I'll get used to the soon. 4K @ 60Hz is ideal. I do wish legibility of text on Mac was a bit better, but overall, loving this display so far. Thank you PHILIPS!
