Great product, very dependable

I am a photo enthusiast, this is my second receiver, and am using the Phottix equipment to allow me to add fill light to outdoor shoots, and to trigger two flash units to provide varying light sources to enhance my subjects.

Reliable, Compact, Durable

This is a great product, but I returned it. - I intended on using the extra Phottix Receiver I bought so that I could hack together a remote control photo booth setup. I already have the Strato II Transmitter and Receiver pair. My hope was that I could use the Receiver to trigger the shutter release on the camera and synchronize that with a studio strobe. This doesn't work, and here is why: Shutters all have lag. Let's pretend that the shutter lag for my camera is 100ms. Flash durations are shorter. Let's call the flash duration for my strobe 1ms. Well, if I trigger the shutter of the camera and my flash at the same time, the flash will fire its full duration before the shutter even manages to open. Yes, this is a rookie mistake on my behalf not to consider this up front. Well, Pocket Wizards and certain other radio transceivers have a feature called Auto-Relay. Without getting technical about how it works, Auto-Relay is designed to sync the strobe and the camera from a remote press from another PW transceiver (3 Pocket Wizards in Total). To get the same effect with the Stratos, you will need at least two transmitters (a total of four Stratos). I bought Pocket Wizards transceivers which are much larger than the Stratos and quite a bit more expensive. If you don't need support for Auto Relay, TTL, HSS, etc., the Stratos are a solid radio trigger/receiver.
