FOV is amazing. A little tricky to set up and optomize, but once you get it, it works very well.

Great headset, works with all my SteamVR games. I also have a Vive Pro 2, the HP G2 and the Index. The 8KX dropped right into my existing index setup, took a little tweaking but wow it's leaps and bounds better than my old headsets. The field of view is far wider and much larger overall. I can actually see the side mirrors in iRacing. Since my peripheral vision shows motion in games its easy to underestimate just how much more immersive this makes it. You get the sense of speed which is totally missing on my index. The resolution is quite good almost the same as my G2.

The header is gorgeous. The FOV is excellent for flight sim and racing sim. I didn't try other titles. Now the cons: The headset won't work out of the box for most people. You need to find the right combination of display port + pitool + drivers. I am a power user and i took me several hours to make it work. The instructions are clear in the support website but you need to know where to look. The stable firmware forces the headset to 8k 120hz mode. upscaling and other frame rates are not supported at the moment. So make sure you have a powerful graphics card. Pitool is somewhat simple to use. It allows you to set many things including foveated rendering which saves on GPU usage. However as I mentioned before. You need to find the version that works for your headset. I had to try three different versions before the tool detected my headset.

I primarily use my headset for simulators such as MS Flight Simulator 2020, Digital Combat Simulator World, and Assetto Corsa. Microsoft Flight Simulator is tolerable but not as good an experience as it would be with a higher framerate. For me, the headset is comfortable to wear for long periods. I also have no trouble getting into a "sweet spot" without major distortion. The way the headset fills most of your peripheral vision combined with the clarity makes this a much more immersive experience than anything else out there, assuming your system can push enough pixels. Even the latest hardware can't take full advantage of it. Once you try a game at full resolution and are wowed by the detail and immersion, you'll inevitably be disappointed when you have to dial back the settings to get it to run at 60 or 75 Hz. I still haven't found settings that let me run Star Wars Squadrons the way I want to, for example. The addition of 60Hz mode in a recent software update did make the headset a lot more usable (for example in DCS World). The Pimax 8K X is flawed. Software can be buggy; needs frequent restarts. My unit has had trouble maintaining its position relative to a base station. There is a bit of motion blur when moving your head around; other headsets are better in this regard. Brightness is more than adequate but contrast could be better. I tried the 5K Super as well; the 8K X is superior.

Awesome headset, best immersion available with wide fov. Definitely need a high end pc to push it and some good earbuds because the audi strap is embarrassingly bad.
