Unlike traditional dolly sleds that use skateboard-style wheels, the Porta-Glide sleds have innovatively addressed the issue of wheel flat spots. Each of the 16 wheels on these sleds has a unique diameter, strategically positioned on the wheel block to ensure all wheels touch the ground simultaneously. While these wheels do flatten slightly, as they rotate, each wheel returns to its flat spot at a different time, making the flat spot virtually undetectable. This smooth operation is a significant improvement over the jarring bumps experienced with other dolly sleds.The Porta-Glide sleds are designed with a 4-hole pattern, identical to the one used on speed rail plates by Modern Studio Equipment. This compatibility allows for easy assembly onto these plates, providing a wider sled when you need to mount the dolly perpendicular to the track. The Porta-Glide sled features one locked arm and three floating arms, providing flexibility based on your needs. If required, the floating arms can be locked by simply adding a 3/8-16 x 0.75" screw through the provided access holes. This feature was added in response to requests from professional grips. The sled's design ensures that the wheel clusters always seat properly on the track rails, even if the track is slightly scissored. If all the arms are locked, the wheels align with the 24.5" spacing of standard dolly track, allowing the sleds to drop directly onto the track without needing to reach under the sled to set the wheel clusters onto the rails.
