This is a seriously sturdy piece of kit. The padded divider kit doesn't really work for the way I want stow my gear (bodies with lens down), but I can't fault the case for that.

I bought this case with no foam to customize it to use for fishing. I needed rugged case to carry 14 inch custom swimbait lures, reels and tackle. 1440 did the job just great with custom Plexiglas partition. Though I would appreciate ready made offers from Peli.

OK, if there is one thing I would change, it would be to make the top section a bit deeper so I can store my lenses upright instead of on their side. I think that would make this case perfect by utilizing the space a tiny bit better, but either way it is a great case and we will call this 4.75 stars. In the lid I have all the little junk and do-dads. In the top tray I have my 24-70 f2.8, 100mm f2.8 macro, 85 f1.8, 50 f1.8, 135 f2, 17-40 f4, STE2 (Canon IR controller)and a stofen omni-bounce. It is snug but comfortable and all my lenses have hoods on them that I store inverted on the lens. Below I have a 70-200 f4 (my old f2.8IS fit there just as well), 5d, 5dmkii, 2 sunpac video lights, 2 canon 580 speedlights, 2 external battery packs, 2 pocket wizzard flex tt5 units, 40 AA batteries, chargers, Sekonic 358 meter, more general junk and still have some room. I would consider my rig to be very typical of an event shooter and it all fits in there nicely. The bottom I have split front to back and the back side I have split top to bottom so that my speedlights (in their cases) slide under my bodies. The front section is the 70-200 standing upright on the right by the wheel cutout and the area next to that is a large open storage space for batts and whatnot. The only things I use that don't fit into this case are my light stand, pod, and a ThinkTank Wideload! The dimensions of the case are such that it fits in many places and doesn't take up a lot of space. I have even had it strapped to the back of my motorcycle (crotch rocket NOT a touring bike!!!) It is stable enough to stand on and is all but bomb proof. Fully stuffed it may be a little too heavy for a woman or a slight person but for an average guy like me it is just fine and the padded handles and large-ish wheels help a lot. Weight as I have described above is 43.5 lbs according to my bathroom scale. Most people would never guess it is camera gear because it is flat black and shaped more like a file cabinet type case. That and its physical structure make this case more protective than any on the market IMHO. I love this case and I highly recommend it!
