Questions & Answers

BELLA D : I have a Canon 60D camera with three lens. Can I fit them all in this case securely so they won't hit each other and remain safe during transit? I have a 'soft' canon bag now but would feel safer with a hard case. Will this one do a decent job? Thank you for your assistance!PETER LA D : Yes. There is plenty of room. I suggest using padded dividers.PETER S : Absolutely, I carry six prime lenses with 80mm fronts in mine. Depending on your lenses you should be fine.ALEXANDER G : I have a Nikon D700 with a 28, 50, and 85mm lenses in mine. There is also enough space to squeeze in the charger, nothing else though. NATHANIEL A : Yes, this case should work fine for that application. Do a browser image search for "Pelican 1450 camera" and you will see images of this particular case doing just that. Also, check out SKU: PL1454B here at Adorama - it is the same case but with padded dividers made specifically for cameras. It is more expensive, but probably a small price to pay for the well-being of your gear.
Shopper : I have a question on the foam. When you "pluck" the foam, are you able to put it back together? If my things are in the case, will the foam cubes move around, or are they fixed? I'm worried that my sensitive things, metalware and glassware might bump each other during transit, etc. Thank you very much! I really appreciate the time you put into this question.DANNY B : I think you could glue it back in, but It would probably be better to just pluck out enough to fit your item and not more. It comes out in little cubes, so it's fairly easy to only take out what you need to. If you left sufficient space between your items they should never touch, as the foam is pretty firm.RAFAEL R : Hello, these cases are very secure. Thats right when you pluck the foam you can put it back, I recomend, when you pluck the foam left some around to protect the object from the other you put next. On the botton you can find another complete foam for extra protection. Thanks.PETER S : Maybe you could put it back together with glue, but it probably would not be the same as when you first plucked it. I pluck square holes about 3"x3" and carry my camera lenses. They don't knock into each other and have been very well protected. I carry 6 lenses in the 1450. I keep 3 squares of foam between them and that works well. Don't make the mistake of cutting this with a knife .... just pick the squares you want to remove and pull them apart, you'll be left with a square hole and a square block of foam in hand. If you need to put foam back in the bottom of the hole for more cushion , just tear the amount you need off the block and insert into hole. Also, you can get solid foam and cut round holes with a thin bread knife or a hot knife. ~ PeterNATHANIEL A : Short answer: yes, you should be able to put it back together and it will stay in place. There is a solid sheet of foam about .5" thick that lines the bottom, and then a separate piece about 3" thick. This is the piece that is "Pick N Pluck". The Pick N Pluck is not divided into cubes as you might imagine. Rather, the "cubes" are about .5" x .5" when viewed from the top, and like 3" on the side, like a fat French fry. If a previously removed piece is replaced, the rest of the foam holds it in place fairly securely by friction. Also, if you really need them to stay put, you can use spray adhesive to glue the removed pieces back into place. I planned my item layout on a piece of graph paper before I started plucking. It turned out perfectly, so I would recommend doing that.RUSS M : You can move the cubes around to a point, but if you need something a bit more modular and flexible I would get the padded dividers. THey work really well and you can move them around as much as you like,GARRETT L : No once you pluck it, it can't be put back together. You can save the plucked pieces and use it to stuff the nooks and crannies. You can use a serrated knife to cut it to a custom shape for maximum protection. To your belongings.
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?Steven H : Reputation and the size was right for me.ARMANDO C : For my new Small HD Monitor, to protect it

Wish there were more options for the padded dividers.

I purchased this small case as a "grab and go case" for a single body, a couple of lenses and flash. I have several Pelican cases and think that they provide excellent security and safety for my Pro camera gear. My only complaint with this small case is the limited options for dividing the interior to fit my needs. The larger Pelican cases present much more flexibility. I'm going to explore fabricating a custom set of dividers to solve this, but wish there were other options.

Pelican Case 1450 Series

The case was exactly what I expected as I already own one. However, the picture does not correspond with the actual color of the item that arrived. Color in the picture is not Desert Tan as described it is really Coyote Tan. If you want Desert Tan, then no issue because that is what will ship - that very light tan case. What I wanted was the darker tan as picture. So, that is the only reason why I rated this item as 4/5 stars. I have used my 1450 case to hold five handguns with 24 magazines with ease... and it looks great for such a small package. I have people ask me where they can get a case like this all the time because of how much it can hold.

Pelican Cases Are Amazing

I already owned a 1450 case, so I know they're great quality. The fact that they're waterproof, very durable and have double-throw latches makes them some of the best cases on the market. I really like the cubed foam because it makes it very easy to customize the case to hold whatever objects you'd like. I wouldn't be surprised if the case would keep an egg from breaking if it were thrown out of a 3-story window. If you've got expensive equipment and you're looking for a case that will protect it and last, these are the cases to get.

Great case

Wanted something for laptop and important documents that could withstand a decent beating, a downpour, and possibly a short submersion in water. I know Pelican has the best reputation among film-makers, so I figured it will over-deliver for my needs. Case is bright orange, with two heavy duty latches, and two padlock spots. You will need two padlocks if you want to lock unauthorized people out. It has the signature sturdiness that every Pelican I've ever handled has. The grip on the handle is comfortable. I bought an engraved nameplate from a third party to put on it, but you can also order from a company Pelican works with by calling them or using the order envelope that comes with each case. The nameplate tab can be removed once the case is opened, so if you leave your case unlocked or the thief removes the locks, they can easily toss your nameplate and deny the case is yours. That just means if you're overly paranoid, you should have the case stenciled or have direct engraving done elsewhere on the case or superglue the insert if that is where you want to engrave. That's not a big deal for me since I only used an adhesive nameplate and did not have any direct engraving done. Can even be a bonus, as if you plan to sell case in the future and want direct engraving or stenciling, you can do it to this removable piece. I've wanted a Pelican case for a few years and am very pleased with my purchase.

It's a Pelican!

A sturdy, watertight case with the ingenious pick'n'plug foam insert. The easiest way to configure the inside is by laying out all your equipment on the top and plug toothpicks into the foam. I've tried different ways to remove the unnecessary pieces, but found the easiest by just using your fingers. I carry camera and photo gear and so far no airline had issues carrying this on as a personal item! [most airlines allow a carry on suitcase and one personal item on-board]

Great Case!

First Pelican case I have purchased and very pleased with the product. I keep two pistols in this case with an optic and I was impressed with the extreme durability of its outer construction. The O-ring is very thick and feels to be made of a high grade silicon/rubber ensuring that it stays dry inside. The foam was surprisingly easy to "pluck" and modify to fit the desired shapes I needed and is stiff enough to provide a snug fit. I have already purchased a second Pelican case because of their quality. 10/10, Would recommend to a friend.

Great length, too narrow

This case is the perfect length for a Nikon D800 with a 70-200 attached (and hood extended). However, I could only fit one extra lens (24-120, F/4) in the case at the same time. It is just not wide enough, and you have to start getting creative with the padding even to get that much in well. I wish there was a case of the same height and length, but wide enough to fit several additional lenses.

Very good quality and durable protection

Very good for the purpose of protection and transport of camera and lenses. Latches are stiff to operate and hard on fingers. We found a latch opener on-line that helps a lot.

Super solid case

I use this case to carry and protect my Nikon D90, two lenses, and some accessories. The case is strong and tight. The dividers allow for a multitude of configurations. I am a retired firefighter and we used this same case to carry various pieces of delicate and valuable equipment and the cases received some severe treatment in the course of normal activities and held up perfectly. I am certain that the camera will receive better treatment in my care, but it is good to know that the equipment will be protected.

Best watertight hard case on the market

I have used Pelican watertight boxes for many years for many different purposes. It is the only thing I will use to store and transport my valuable camera equipment. I have used them also for storage and transport of my diving equipment and my guns. When I go on a trip that involves photography, diving, and hunting, my vehicle is filled with Pelican cases of all sizes and they have always protected my equipment of whatever type and they last a lifetime.

Excellent product

I bought this Pelican case to protect my Nikon D60 on a kayaking trip I was taking on Vancouver Island. The case fits my Nikon D60, 18-200 mm and 70-300 mm lens and also had space for my Panasonic Lumix point and shoot. It is very sturdy and totally waterproof. I could put it on the deck of my kayak (held in place with bungy cords) for easy access. It is a bit bulky and heavy, however, I don't see how it could be smaller and still hold all of my gear. I am very pleased with my purchase.
