Great cooler

My son bought a YETI cooler. After looking at his, I seen the need in a good cooler that would hold ice for several days. I own Pelican camera cases, when I seen they had coolers I got one. In my opinion better than the others at a better price.

THE SPORTSMAN'S COOLER

If you hunt, fish or just like to camp for days this cooler is the last you will ever have to buy. I wanted to bring back crawfish from Lousianna to Virginia, I vac sealed them and froze overnight. Packed the crawfish and some frozen duck meat in ice and after 3 days on the road everything was still frozen and over 3/4 of the ice remaining. Very sturdy cooler, like the latches, litle heavy and a wheel kit would be nice. Still worth the money, Plus made in USA with Life warranty +++.

First impressions.

I finally had the opportunity to use the cooler on a 5 day trip. While it did perform better than any other cooler I own the ice lasted 4 days not the 7 days advertised. I kept the cooler in open shade and the high temperature was in the mid 80's every day. That being said I did use only one small bag of ice and the water was still very cold on the 5th days after all the ice had melted. On my next trip I will fill the cooler up with ice and I expect the ice may last the 7 - 10 days as advertised. Over all I'm very pleased with the performance but be advised unless you are an 800 pound gorilla put the cooler in your vehicle before loading it up. It is heavy empty and once it is filled you will need some help moving the cooler. I consider it a good value compared to other comparable coolers.

Great product should last a life time

I bought these coolers as x-mas gifts this year -great success. I've used pelican products for many years and have never been disappointed. These coolers are built like a tank and work as advertised. I have other top of the line coolers but these are the best yet. The quality and warranty are first class.

Works for Me

Really keeps ice melting so quickly as in other coolers. The design is great, really strong, what I expect from a Pelican product. Really like the handles and hinges, like them much more than Yeti. The 45 qt. works for me. It is heavy, expect that due to the insulation used. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another one, however I believe mine will outlast me.

Follow the instructions

Don't expect to open this cooler in 7 days and have mostly ice left. That's unreasonable. If you don't do the things below, you'll be lucky to get 5 days if it's warm. To get 7-10 days of [any] ice retention: 1) Ice to contents ratio: 2:1 2) Chill stuff prior to putting in cooler. 3) Use block ice (make at home in your own freezer) 4) Cooler should be chilled prior to adding ice and stuff. Getting 7-10 days is hard when ambient temperature is above 80 degrees 7/24. In cooler weather, getting 10 days would be a snap. At the end of 7-10 days, you'll have mostly very cold water with your stuff bobbing around in it and a little ice. Cooler is strong, slick and worth every penny if you don't like to worry about your next ice stop. Cooler needs a dry rack which I haven't seen from Pelican yet. Cooler really needs a pressure relief valve. When the gasket gets wet, and you come down out of the mountains, you'll be prying the lid open. Even the temperature/pressure differential opening and closing the lid will make it hard to open on hot days.

The Pelican ProGear 65 Quart Elite Cooler (Marine White) with 2" Insulation provides you with extreme ice retention to keep your cold things cold. A freezer grade gasket provides you with extreme water tightness so the cooler doesn't leak.
