The USB 3 10Gbps interface, paired with NVMe SSDs, delivers read and write speeds that are twice as fast as traditional USB 3 5Gbps external SATA SSDs, and significantly outpaces standard USB flash drives. The enclosure's innovative tool-free design facilitates the quick installation of an M.2 NVMe SSD in mere seconds. Simply unlock the aluminum cover using the latch at the back, insert the SSD, secure it with the flexible retention peg, and replace the cover. The adjustable retention peg supports various M.2 NVMe SSD form factors, including 2280, 2260, 2242, and 2230.To enhance performance, the enclosure includes three thermal pads that can be applied to the NVMe SSD, optimizing heat transfer to the aluminum heat sink cover. It is compatible with M.2 NVMe SSDs, supporting PCIe Gen 3 and PCIe Gen 4, across any available capacity. Note that new NVMe SSDs require manual partitioning and formatting to be recognized by Windows File Explorer or macOS Finder. The enclosure supports SSD SMART data reading and TRIM for compatible file systems, though it is not compatible with non-NVMe M.2 drives or M.2 PCIe non-storage devices.Designed for versatility, the enclosure comes with both USB Standard-A and USB Type-C data cables, making it suitable for a wide range of desktop and notebook computers. Optimal performance is achieved with USB 3 5Gbps or 10Gbps, USB Type-C, USB4, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4 connections, though it can also function with USB 2.0 at reduced speeds of approximately 40MB/s. It is compatible with current versions of Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Linux, and ChromeOS, all of which include UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) drivers, eliminating the need for additional software installations. For cross-platform compatibility, formatting the drive with an exFAT file system is recommended.Whether upgrading your computer's internal drive or seeking additional storage for your notebook, this enclosure is an ideal solution. For upgrades, install the new drive into the enclosure, use the SSD manufacturer's cloning software to transfer data from the internal drive, and then swap the drives. The original NVMe SSD can then be repurposed for backups or portable storage.
