Is Dolby Atmos worth it?

Works as expected. No issues identified in the last 5 months. I bought it on a half price sale at Plantronics which is great. I don't think that it is worth the full retail price however as it is basically a stereo headset as not all games or pc use provides access to Dolby Atmos.

4th return for faulty headset

In on my 4th 600lx headset now. Each time I have returns and exchanges for a new set. Hopefully this one lasts longer than a week. 1st set the chat mixer stopped working after a few weeks, returned for a new set 2nd set volume control stopped working after amonth or so. Returned and exchanged for a new set 3rd set, left earpiece/speaker stopped working after about 3 months. 4th time, chat mixer was broken right out of the box and never worked. Returned and received a new set. Hopefully this one works

Awful

The sound hurts my ears, even low volume with bass boost on. The treble is so high and the sounds are so scratchy. I hate this headset and everyone who gave it good ratings. Wasted good money DO NOT BUY

Great Audio, Poor Build, Honest Review

BEST AUDIO I've ever had in a gaming headset, HOWEVER, the Amp that plugs into the controller broke so many times (and they replaced it each time, great customer service) that it was quite upsetting. I DO recommend Plantronics headsets, but not this one. This was an awful experience having to replace a headset every month when they broke from internal issues in the Amp each time. I broke mine the first time on accident, but each time after that the Mix Amp fell apart over time, and I couldn't speak, or the audio broke, etc.. I ended up not replacing mine after it broke a week after I got it replaced, because I was so frustrated with the product. (IMPORTANT) If you are looking for a gaming headset, these headsets have amazing audio, but none of my RIG 600 LX lasted very long before ultimately failing due to the Amp plug-in. Maybe choose a different headset from this brand. I wish I had gone wireless... Would have avoided a lot of trouble.

Doesn’t work.

I bought this mic three days ago and I have already experienced multiple occurances of this issue. To put it quite frankly, it doesn’t work. Every time I seem to take a break from playing when I get back the headphones won’t let out any sound, but my mic will be working. I am Not sure if this is a defect or just the headphones being blatantly bad.

Amazing quality

Bought about a month ago, and I usually buy a new headset every couple of months but since buying the RIG600LX, I haven’t bothered to look for another headset since. Amazing quality sound with both Xbox One and iPad Pro. Also excellent quality microphone for use with iPhone. Couldn’t ask for a better headset.

Surround a complete disapointment - waist of money

Headphones sound good as a stereo set. Surround is basically non existant on PC or XBox. Contacted Dolby Atmos support who just said it dosn't work for everyone. I bought for surround sound so basically useless to me now.

Great audio and comfort, but with several annoying

I became very interested in the RIG 600LX headset once I found out about it. The cost was $130 at that time. The inclusion of Dolby Atmos support really intrigued me, as I have a nice 4K TV and an Xbox One X, along with several Dolby Atmos supported Ultra HD Blu-ray movies. This headset was purchased directly from Plantronics website, as it was only available on there at the time. Pros: --------------------- - Excellent sound quality whether it's with gaming, watching movies or listening to music. Nice lows, mids and highs. When the headset works properly, that is. - The Dolby Atmos "effect" is definitely noticeable, and the soundstage is very immersive and impressive. - Extremely comfortable headset. The memory foam ear cups are very nice and the headset is rather lightweight. You can wear these for hours on end and not feel any kind of fatigue. - The included amp that connects to the Xbox One controller is a great addition. Extremely easy to adjust the volume, mute the microphone and set your desired EQ choice. The amp doesn't interfere with the controller at all. You won't have to dive into Xbox settings to alter the volumes and so on. - The detachable microphone delivers loud enough and clear sound to those on the other side listening. Again, when it works properly, which is rare. Cons: --------------------- - I'm always receiving feedback from others, whether it's in a game or party chat, that they're always hearing echoing from the microphone. I can also hear my voice being echoed through their mics, as well, which is very strange. And, somehow, they can also hear the audio from the game I'm playing. Yes, my TV audio is always on mute and my surround sound setup is completely turned off when using the headset. So I basically have to play with the microphone being muted at all times. I also tried using mini foam windscreens, but that didn't help either. So that was a waste of $35 trying to fix it. - After a short while, the audio from the headset clips in and out at a very fast, consistent and utterly annoying rate. This makes playing games, watching movies, etc literally impossible. It has been extremely annoying, as it ruins the audio experience completely. And this occurrence happens very, very often. It's gotten to the point where I feel lucky if the audio is playing properly for 20 minutes straight. - Another issue with the audio, when it isn't constantly clipping, is that the volume will lower itself without me even touching the amp controls. After about 20 seconds, the volume will gradually move up to where it's supposed to be set at. Then after a short while, the same process occurs. - Make sure to always remove the headset with both hands (one on each cup), or else the weak plastic band on the outsides will easily crack. So durability is also an issue if you aren't very careful. - The headset/microphone cable that connects to the amp is WAY too long and the cable easily gets twisted/tangled up. I really don't understand why it isn't only 1-2 feet long as any length beyond that is completely unnecessary. It just makes a large mess. Yes, you can use velcro or zip ties to organize/lessen the size, but you will still get a lot of tangling throughout the cable.

perfect for gaming

excellent surround sound with atmos i can tell where they are coming from whether they are behind me, above me, or to the side of me sounds perfect. and customer service was perfect. i got a defective one where i hear a lot of static and was hard to use. i explained what was happening with it and they sent a new one overnight delivery. They earned my business probably for life now just how great they are. The new one doesn't have any issues at all. I am happy with these headphones.

Best Headphones I’ve owned

I bought the Plantronics 600LX ever since I came across Dolby Atmos. My pair was shipped on time but unfortunately both cables did not work so I had to set up a replacement. Plantronics sent me another pair instantly with a 1 day shipping, I was so surprised that they arrived so fast because I was so bummed out that I couldn’t use the headphones I bought at first. The headphones worked perfectly and games sound incredible specially those with DA compatability. I also used these pairs to record my bass guitar and fiddle around in mixing, bass sounds loud and clear for their price. The overall feel of the headphones feels high quality for 100$.

Best Headset for xbox 1

i bought this a month ago very happy of this purchase i went from turtle beach headsets to plantronics and happy that i did. The sound of Dolby Atmos is awesome i can hear from what direction they are coming from and don't expect me to react that fast. The only issue i have that the headset feels like it is too tight and after awhile my ears start irritated. like it puts too much pressure on the ears. but if i keep adjusting it i can make it work. This is by far the best headset i have used though great sound quality also.

Mic needs work

I bought this headset a few weeks ago after a friend had recommended the 400lx model . This headset sounds amazing my only complaint is the mic picks up ALOT of background noise, so much so that my friends were hearing an eco from my volume being to loud it was bleeding through the ear cups and was being picked up by the mic not a huge issue but the only one Ive had

Wonderful sound quality and spatial effects

I got these thinking that there wouldn't be a big a difference between these and an old Astro A50 set. After listening to this new headset I am very impressed with the build quality and sound levels. The 600 LX has great positional audio and sound clarity superior to my older set.

Great gaming headset

Love the look and design of this headset. Looks and feels solid. The sliding adjustment is a must in my books, so big thumbs up to that. The clash of retro and modern really work well in the overall style. The headset itself is comfortable to wear and doesn’t slip around. The interchangeable microphones are genius. If you don’t need the boom mic, just switch it for the corded option. The control pad for the controller is well designed and puts everything is at your fingertips. As for the sound quality I couldn’t fault it. I’m not sure if it was because of the Dolby atmos ap. But the quality and precision of the game sound was outstanding

Performs well

I bought this for my birthday and have been very pleased with audio quality. It sounded even better with Dolby Atmos. I wish the volume would go up higher, but it doesn't have to. If you didn't have good hearing, then it probably won't work as well for you. But very comfortable to wear for long periods. Not many downsides to this device. I'm not overly picky, but for the price they sound pretty fantastic. I'm happy I bought them.

Very comfortable and is feature packed

The RIG is quite comfortable. My initial expectation was that it may have been an on-ear headphone, but am pleasantly surprised when the ear cups are large enough to be an over-ear set, which is my preference. The leather cups are quite comfortable and provides sufficient airflow in a relatively cool room, however, may require some venting if the room is warm. It is also reasonably light, so it is quite comfortable to use for long periods of time. The sound is good, particularly for music playback. I prefer bassier sound, and it delivers the punch, although it over compensates in the higher pitch levels for certain songs. The added bonus of a Dolby Atmos code provided my first experience with Dolby Atmos on headphones and it was indeed an immersive experience. It performs as expected for gaming purposes. I generally play Overwatch and it performs very well in providing pin point accuracy in locations of player footsteps. I did struggle to discern the difference of having Dolby Atmos enabled and disabled. Perhaps too much going on. The comfort level here was particularly important for me and I've had no issues at all having it on for long periods of time.

Quality at it's finest.

The headset has very great features, clear audio and microphone on computer. Through the Xbox One mixer it has a slight hum to the microphone but not that noticeable. The phone input on the mixer is nice little touch to add in. On board EQ is great.

I had to re-train my ears!

I was skeptical about Dolby Atmos - not anymore. The immersion and accuracy when watching and listening to the Dolby examples was phenomenal. I was hearing sounds not heard before in high end home theatre systems with unbelievably clear and precise sound. The comfort of the ear cushions made it feel like I wasn't wearing headphones after only 20-30 seconds. Ample volume and clarity from the drivers and with the packaged LX1 amp, the use on my Xbox One X was simple and made sure I wasn't pausing games to adjust levels. Fantastic headphones - highly recommend.

Rig 600LX

The Rig 600LX is a premium gaming headset that will not cost a fortune. Quite simply, it is the best sub-$200 headset I have used. As always with Plantronics, the product is packaged well. Upon removing the headset, I couldn't help but marvel at the feel of it - it just felt premium. The headset is very comfortable (though I do feel that the 400LX is slightly more comfortable, though less adjustable and quite pretty to look at. The flat cable is also a blessing, as I find it less inclined to tangle. The removable boom microphone can be switched out with the included in-line microphone, making this suitable for use while travelling or working out (it's also really secure on the head, so it is excellent to use even while running). Sound quality is excellent, with the entire audio range being very clear; the highs are crisp and the lows are punchy and pristine, even at high volumes. Using the included LX1 Amp and Dolby Atmos enhances this experience even more. As such, you won't struggle to hear every noise on the battlefield, from distant vehicles and gunfire to the footsteps of the guy sneaking to give you a whack up-side the skull. The excellent quality sound makes it perfect for listening to music as well. The LX1 Amp is also good. While I did find it to feel a bit "cheap" at first, I found the buttons were solid and had a satisfying click to them, while the dials were effortless to move. The ability to feed in audio from a second source at the same time (i.e. music from your phone) is a boon to those who like some tunes while gaming. In all, the Rig 600LX is an excellent headset that I would recommend to anyone who wants excellent sound and quality and prefers wired headsets, or for someone who is looking for something they can use for both gaming and while out and about. While not the cheapest, it is also not too expensive. What it is though, is excellent value and quality that you would expect from a much more expensive product. You won't regret getting this one, I assure you.

A fantastic headset for all uses

I put the RIG 600LX through some serious testing, and I was incredibly happy with the results. Gaming, walking the dog, taking phone calls in the wind, listening to music on public transport, these headphones not only have great sound (particularly in the mid range), but also look stylish and are super comfortable!

Incredible build and sound quality

The Rig 600LX is 100% a headset worth purchasing, the build quality alone warrants a purchase, comfortable and breathable ear cups coupled with a plush band allows for extended wearing periods without any discomfort, the sound quality is incredibly crisp with highs, mids and lows coming through without dwarfing one another, the adapter that is included with the headset is also perfect for those who want to be able to play the game and listen to music on their phone without having to use a pair of earbuds underneath the headphones, would highly reccomend purchasing this headset.

Not a bad headset, but it has its flaws

This headset is a fairly decent choice for gamers, with good sound quality and a crisp, clear microphone. It's not without its drawbacks however. While the perforated earcups are made of a comfortable material, they leak sound like crazy (both in and out, I can quite clearly hear my PC sitting next to me even while playing a game without providing a wide soundstage like a traditional open-backed headphone, I also found the earpads to be a touch on the small side, causing pain on my ears where the inside of the pad applies pressure to the bottom of my ear. The included add-on for XB1 controllers is a bit of a let down, it feels plastic-y and cheap, and the knobs for volume adjustment and game/chat volume balance are far too easy to accidentally rotate. It also lacks a volume control option for the 3.5mm input. Overall, not a bad headset but it has its drawbacks.
