I have used these buoys for years. They are used for marking locations during search and recovery diving, to mark locations where something was last seen, or to signal distress by a diver. They have one disadvantage in that they will continue to unwind once they reach the surface due to a current or the wind. They have to be tied off with a half hitch to stay immediately over the top of what they are marking.
Drag R.
A Marker recovery system, the Pelican Float is a reusable buoy that is made of structural foamed resin and weighs only 16 oz. with a 7" length. It includes over 100 feet of polyethylene 225 lb. test line and a 6 oz. non-drag dispatchable anchor.
