After using the Flash Bracket Guillotine for several events over the last few months, I can say it is by far a superior design with the most flexibility and function of any brackets I have ever used or researched. The materials and workmanship are first rate. The engineering and aesthetics are smart and attractive. The Guillotine's design allows placement of the flash off camera either directly over the lens in both portrait and landscape mode as well as off to the side. Placement off to the side and a bit above the lens produces excellent portrait lighting, especially with a diffuser. Movement of the flash to any of these positions is easy and fast. The only other bracket I found that allowed this positioning required two hands to adjust while cradling the camera in my arm. I use the camera Custom Plate for attaching to my camera along with the Quick Release Plate/Arm on the bracket. The quick release option is very handy. I originally bought the bracket without it, and after using it for a while, ordered the quick release. The same goes true for the Stand – Rest Camera on Flat Surface; I ordered without it and then ordered it later. The stand while it seems a bit out of place makes a difference especially with heavier lenses. One of the features I especially liked was the ability to effectively use the some of the components interchangeably. I can best describe this through my experience. I initially purchased the Guillotine with a custom plate that fit my camera with grip; and later the Quick Release Plate/Arm and Stand. I then ordered the L-Bracket for the camera with grip. It fit the plate I got with the Guillotine and worked great, with or without the Guillotine attached, allowing multiple configurations. With a universal plate that accepts the Guillotine I can use it on my second camera. This is where the Quick Release Plate/Arm on the Guillotine becomes very handy. On service…top rate. I used the contact form as well as called for questions. Both means worked well, but frankly talking with them on the phone was the best as I could explain what I wanted to accomplish and they helped in devising my systems. The engineering, aesthetics, functionality, interchangeability and synergy of components gives this a high value. Couple that with fine service, made in the Midwest, and good pricing and it is 5 stars hands down.
