After a long time looking at tripods, I was just about ready to go with RRS when I ran across some positive you tube and other in-depth reviews for ProMediaGear (which one should check out for oneself). The TR344L seemed to have better capacity/weight/size ratio than the similar RRS models I was considering, not to mention a better price. I've been very happy with it's performance and features so far. The only reservation I really had was not having the rubberized leg locks, but I haven't really missed them so far. The TR344L's locks are easy to grasp and turn, and if I'm working in temps where grasping metal locks would make my hands cold, I figure I'll have gloves on anyway. The tripod itself is sturdy and solid, leg extensions are smooth, leg angle stops are easy to use, extra height is great (I'm 6'1"), it looks and feels like a pro-level tripod, and the included spiked feet are an extra bonus.

ProMediaGear TR344L is one of the best carbon fiber tripod I ever have, the tripod got the high; handle the weight; it got a very good size level, it is so solid and steady, I didn’t have any issue shooting in a windy location.

I chose the Pro Media Gear legs after an exhaustive look at spec sheets for all tripods. I even found some impressive stuff that is not sold through the two big photo retailers and still these legs came out on top. Quite simply the leg extension, weight, and collapsed length has the best ratings here. I was worried something would be of compromise - yet I have found no fault. I would use my 3 series with all but the largest of cameras. These come with a 5 year warranty and are made in America. If I ever needed a tripod with a higher working height I'd buy this brand again. The hook for hanging weight from the tripod is fantastic and the action in the leg locks is fast. Where the legs meet the apex is my favorite style of lock as well. The only thing I could imagine needing more of is the apex which looks quite different on the 4 series. This one fits the RRS BH-55 perfectly but say if I wanted to use a Fuji GX680 or an 8x10 I'd imagine the 4 series and a more robust head such as a Ries or FLM would provide noticeable difference.

I've been looking up upgrade my tripod legs for a long time and I'm glad I waited. I was considering going with a Really Right Stuff option, and would have probably done so, until I found out about the ProMedia Gear tripod legs. They are very solid, well made, extend well above my head, and are lighter than I thought. On my first shoot, I was photographing a lightning storm in Florida and got stuck in mud up to my knees. I actually used the tripod legs to help get me out of the mud and then just kept shooting the storm. They were just fine and only needed to be rinsed off and wiped dry. I'm impressed with the build quality and their ability to help extract me from the mud. I'd highly recommend them for any photographer considering a well made set of tripod legs.
