I have been using these lights since 2008 and just purchased an additional one for travel. Original lights still working great and they get plenty of action. Very pleased.

I have had two of these in my studio for over a year. These lights are great! I am getting ready to order a third. It doesn't get much better - fast recycling and replaceable flash bulbs. Awesome!

They are a great compliment to my Photogenic 1250! Easy to use and provide great light on their own or along with other studio lights. At this price for a quality product, you can't go wrong!

My use of the StudioMax 320 is location photography. I transport a pair to my location sessions, and have had 100% reliability and consistent color, every time. Although I would not recommend dropping them, when it has happened, they have continued operation as if nothing happened.

I bought this kit because of the price. I just got it yesterday and am sending it back first thing tomorrow. Very little power. Must be less than 3 feet from your subject to shoot at f16. Power ratios only work at 1/4 power or less. Spend the extra money and buy the Power Lights!

The only bad thing is that when the light is set to full power the flash duration is slow. 1/125

An essential tool for both studio and on-location photography, the StudioMax III AC/DC Operated 160ws Constant Color Monolight (AKC160B) is a versatile and portable lighting solution designed for the modern photographer. This microprocessor-controlled monolight is engineered to deliver consistent color temperature and quality light output, ensuring your images are beautifully lit every time.
Crafted for flexibility, the StudioMax III can be powered by either AC mains or DC battery, making it an ideal choice for photographers who work in various environments. The StudioMax III offers a broad spectrum of lighting control, featuring discreet and continuously variable power adjustments across a full 6 f-stop range. This allows for precise control over the intensity of light, giving photographers the ability to fine-tune their lighting to match their creative vision.
Compatibility with Photogenic's Quick-Change light shaping accessories further enhances the monolight's versatility. Photographers can easily modify the quality and direction of light using an array of accessories such as barndoors, grids, snoots, scrims, diffusers, soft boxes, and umbrellas. This compatibility ensures that the StudioMax III can be tailored to any lighting scenario, from dramatic portraits to intricate product shots.
Weighing between 2.4 to 3 pounds, the StudioMax III is exceptionally portable. Its lightweight design makes it an excellent choice for photographers who frequently travel or need to quickly change setups on location. It serves as an efficient travel light or as a precise hair and accent light in studio arrangements.
The "B" model units, including the AKC160B, are specifically designed for photographers on the move. They can be powered by Photogenic's AKB-1 battery or compatible models from other manufacturers (battery not included). A fully charged battery pack typically provides up to 200 flashes at full power for the AKC160B, ensuring reliable performance during extended shoots.
When operating on DC power, the StudioMax III's modeling circuit is automatically disabled to conserve battery life for flash output, maximizing the number of shots you can achieve on a single charge.
