ADAM G : Can you use the gel kit ring with this attached??MICHAEL G : Yes. Since I can't include a URL please find profoto-ocf-gels-mounting-instructions_en.pdf on the Profoto website.KEITH B : Yes, you can use the gel ring kit with the OCF Speed ring attached but you have to put the head through the OCF ring first without the gel kit ring attached. It would be too large in diameter to fit through the OCF ring otherwise. But once the head is pushed through the rubber collar of the OCF ring, you can push the head far enough through to attach the gel ring. Once the OCF Soft box or other light modifier is attached to the ring it will be a little more awkward to switch out gels but going through the back end of the modifier will allow enough access to get to the gel ring.TIM D : Yes. Once you have it attached to the strobe you can place the gel holder on the front of the strobe itself.

Speedring review.

Nice piece of equipment, well designed by Profoto. Fairly easy to attach beauty dish rods, sturdy attachment to B1X. My only complaint is that the band that attaches the ring to the flash head popped off while in my car, but I easily reattached it.

This speedring makes it much easier and quicker to assemble a Profoto softbox, and it's nice and light. I'll be getting a few more.

It's great but why?

This little speed ring works just fine. It does its job. But it seems silly to have a separate spring ring for the OCF. Profoto should just make everything work on the same speedring. This fits the D2 and B1X lights so, I guess I don't see the point.

This speedring works well and the "color assist indicators" are helpful. It appears to be well made however I feel that the part is overpriced for a speedring. It's plastic. If you want to use their products, there's a price to be paid.

Brilliant Design Idea

This is quite a small package but expands out to be a full 2' beauty dish. It is not quite my Mola but it does the job in a very, very convenient package and the design of the ribs is just brilliant - all soft boxes should be done this way - search for a video on Youtube to see what i mean by just how easy this is to set up. An added bonus is that it can actually be folded in set up condition so that the ribs just have to be popped in and out and you are ready to go. Excellent piece of equipment.

The Profoto Off-Camera Flash Speedring (forProfoto B1,B2 , B1X and B10s) is a speedring designed for fast and easy on-location photography. The Off-Camera Flash Speedring is used for mounting an Off-Camera Flash Softbox on your off-camera flash. It is not your everyday speedring, though. Not only is it more compact and lightweight, but the patent-pending design allows you to snap on the softbox without having to bend and fumble with the rods, while the clever color-codes show you exactly how to assemble the unit. The classic Profoto rubber collar and clasp makes it easy to mount the Off-Camera Flash Speedring on the off-camera flash.

Compatible with OCF softboxes 101211 (2'), 101215 (2x3'), 101217 (1x3')
